I agree, but now the divorce rate is higher than the marriage rate. People say that marriage is so sacred but its not if people are on their fifth divorce-they only hold in a high regard to not let homosexuals marry, which is not fair. How can we deny them the right to marry when people have affairs during marriage, some are arranged and people divorce quicker than it takes for the wedding pictures to develop. They claim its about God, I'm sure the things I listed God would not approve of. I say despite sexual orientation everyone should have the right to marry.

In America 50% of the marriages are married for LIFE!!!! In America 50% go to church weekly. What does that tell you?
America is no one homogenous culture. We don't all look alike. We don't have the same religious ideas. We don't agree politically. We just agree to everyone's right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We want a good job, a nice home, etc. When it comes to marriage we want a marriag that will last a lifetime but we're also realistic and will divorce and re-marriage when necessary.

Andrew Jackson was also responsible for the Trail of Tears, so I don't think his faith means anything. Heartless devil of a man.
But back on topic, marriage wasn't originally a sacred thing, rather a contractual agreement (look up"ketubah") The anti-gay-marriage folks tend to be evangelicals, and anything that goes against how they think things should be scares them--it's as though the world will end if what they say doesn't go.

You can blame Christians for being against homosexual marriages. You can blame non-Christians for shows like Bridezilla, and talk shows that have special wedding series, and going to Vegas and getting drunk and making a mistake. So who has ruined America? (Which I disagree because America is still the greatest!)

Right about everything other than the fact that the divorce rate in America is about 63%.

I think you're right. Straight people are doing a pretty good job of destroying the "sanctity of marriage" all on their own.
God forbid we allow two people who love each other to get married! They're the same sex! Ew!

you make a great point. i don't think it's the marriage that really matters though but the rights that get taken away. my aunts are lesbians and since they can't get married if one of them dies half of their stuff goes to her family rather than her partner or something like that. my mom was telling me about it.

I think that MY marriage is none of anybody's business but mine and the one I married.
Homosexual people getting married, none of my damn business, either. Why does the government have to stick their business in everybody's business?
what ever happened to FOR the PEOPLE, BY the people?????

I'm going to love reading the answers to this one. The denial of marriage rights to gays is indefensible, in my opinion.

Good point; here is something to consider:
" It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible". - George Washington
" The Bible is the cornerstone of libery". -- Thoms Jefferson"
"That Book (the Bible), sir, is the Rock on which our Republic rests". - Andrew Jackson
"God who gave us life and liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed the conviction that these liberties are a gift from God?" - Thomas Jefferson
"It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God and to obey His will". -- George Washington
