How come if Jesus born in Jerusalen the images of him that I have seen in Catholic temple (and I am referring to this particular temple since this has been the only one I had visit) are about a Jesus with white-skin color and blue eyes? Isn´t this racist or perhaps some people from the catholic community think that a white person is the image of love, pure, etc etc.

What do you think?.... (please don´t condem me to hell lol )

Its just the artists portrayal of what they imagine Jesus to look like.He was born a Jew,his skin is very dark, and he has dark hair. Its evident by other Jewish features.

He was born in Bethlahem, but seriously you've seen lots of people that are Jewish by race. Some have darker skin, some are very pale in complexion - who knows?

But about these Catholic temple paintings. The Catholic church generally maintains a style of art from the middle ages that was based in Europe. It was mostly white Europeans making these paintings and painting mid-eastern world as they understood life in Europe. (You'll notice all sorts of European architecture in the background of those paintings too).

Jesus is a Jewish man. The Bride of Christ is made up of all people. It depends on who made the Church and who the parishioners are. It only stands to reason that if they are primarily white then they will project a white Jesus as the two will become one flesh. Remember it is just a reminder anyway. In our Church we have a Jewish looking Jesus (very handsome) but, we also have Our Lady of Guadeloupe too who is very Spanish looking. The majority of people in our Church is white so go figure that one out.

I think its just a reference to whatever culture you live in or are a part of. There are many Catholic churches which depict Jesus as Black, White, Arabic, etc....it depends on where you live. In all truth, Jesus is Love and is representative of all nations regardless. So, I don't think it's a racial thing.

I'm white, and I don't believe that Jesus is white, He was a Jew . There are many different skin colors in Jerusalem...maybe He was black, or red ...the important thing is that He died for our sins.

There are white people in Jerusalem. Benjamin Netanyahu, former prime minister of Isreal, is white. We don't know what color Jesus was but it really doesn't matter does it.

Many of the painters of Christ were European. With no true picture available thay drew according to what they felt.

What Jesus looked like doesn't matter. What he taught is the important thing.

Jesus had no servants, yet they called Him Master. Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher. He had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer. Had no army, yet kings feared Him. He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world. He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him. He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today.
