The college student market is a good one, but why not expand it to newlyweds, widows and widowers, and the recently divorced, as well? I've seen some new brides and some suddenly single people who survive off frozen dinners and take away until they're about to die of malnutrition.

You could title it, "So THIS is the kitchen?"

Think of a catchy title - 'How to Get Plumpty Even Though You're Numpty' then market it to students. A lot of them will be cooking for themselves for the first time. Most Unis have Freshers' Weeks at the beginning of the school year. Run off a few hundred copies and set up a stall.

not as simple, easy or quick. i wouldn't believe any of those words if i saw them on a cook book, i say choose a recipe with a low number of ingredients and steps and put it on the cover. something a person wouldn't think they could cook easily and they will want to pick it up to see other recipes they didn't think they'd be able to make.
also make sure you don't need alot of kitchen equipment, that always puts me off buying a recipe book.
try local food markets lots more people are buying from local producers and they are no longer exclusively foodies shopping at these places, they mite be looking for a good book.
good luck

"Even Numpties Gotta Eat."
..obviously the University Market. Early twentysomethings who live alone, also.
Get on the good side of 'Viz' magazine.
F.H.M. might want to do an article also. Give it a roadtest if you like. Try talking to all lads mags, see if they are interested.

"Cooking for Numpties"

It could be part of a series, other titles including

"Using the toilet for Numpties"
"Opening doors for Numpties"
"Breathing for Numpties"
"Advanced Using the Toilet for Numpties" and so on
