THE BEST WAY IS TO DRIVE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN ON THE U.S. ROADS BEFORE THE MEXICAN TOLLS RIP YOUR WALLET APART.

TAKE THE 10 WEST FROM EL PASO FOR LIKE 3 OR 4 HOURS INTO TUCSON AZ. AND IN TUCSON, AZ. TAKE I-19 TO NOGALES AZ. YOU DRIVE FOR UNDER A HOUR AND YOUR IN NOGALES AZ. THE BORDER CITY TO SONORA MEXICO. REFUEL AND EAT THEN GO ON TO NOGALES MEXICO. GO BEYOND THE CITY AND TAKE THE CAR AND YOUR PERMIT IN THE FAMOUS 21 21 km beyond the city of nogales. ONCE YOU HAVE THE PERMIT FOR YOU AND YOUR CAR, DRIVE STRAIGHT THRU THE STATE'S OF SONORA, SINALOA, NAYARIT AND THEN YOUR IN THE STATE OF JALISCO. YOU ARE JUST A FEW HOURS AWAY FROM GUADALAJADA JALISCO MEXICO. I RECOMEND THE PLANE BETTER, BUT IF YOU WISH TO DRIVE, BE READY FOR THE EXTRA COST AND THE SECURITY CHECKPOINTS OF MILATARY AND FEDERAL POLICE ALL ALONG THE ROAD AND THEY WILL CHECK YOUR CAR.
HAVE A GOOD TIME AND NO PICKING UP STRANGERS,,,,, YOU DON'T WANT TO GET ROBBED AND KILLED.
I WISH YOU WELL.

I think you could ask AAA (if you are a member) if they have a map of Guadalajara. You should also ask your car insurance provider about what were to happen if you got in an accident over there. If you get lost, I recommend staying on the main road and not take any scary dirt road in the middle of nowhere.

try mapquest.com or maps.yahoo.com, if you have a specific location they will direct you there if not they will direct you to the middle of the town. Also mapquest lets you decide if you want to use a highway or not amongst other things.
