I don't know why from top to bottom, but I do know that the curtain you're talking about was the curtain that was in front of the tabernacle in the holy of holies room in the Jewish temple. The significance of this is that before Jesus, no one could enter the holy of holies expect the Jewish high priest, meaning also a separation between us and God (our sin). When the curtain was torn, it meant that Jesus' sacred blood reunited us with God and we would no longer be separated from Him. This was one of the most significant moments for humankind.

Jesus is the Beginning, and the End.(Top to Bottom)
His Death on the Cross was the end of the Dispensation of Law, and the beginning of the Dispensation of Grace.
Ya know, everyone ahead of me answered better than I did.

It by no skill somewhat got here about. The Bible is incorrect. there's no recording in the different source. not even the Talmud files such an journey happening, and the alternative of the Temple Curtain ought to have required a touch lengthy time period.

The curtain was torn top to bottom to show that God had made a way for mankind to enter His Holy of Holies. Its not man's work (bottom to top) but Gods (top to bottom) that allows us to be forgiven.

(Hebrews 10:14-to-25) For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
(Heb 10:15) Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
(Heb 10:16) This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
(Heb 10:17) And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
(Heb 10:18) Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
(Heb 10:19) Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
(Heb 10:20) By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
(Heb 10:21) And having an high priest over the house of God;
(Heb 10:22) Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
(Heb 10:23) Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
(Heb 10:24) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
(Heb 10:25) Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

I believe to show that Jesus made a way for us to talk directly to God , no more going to the Priests for the sacrifices...Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice so we don't have to.
