How much does a vasectomy cost , do some insurance companies help cover it and about how long would it take for my husband to recover? He works in the oil field, so does alot of physical stuff. How long would he have to be off from the job? We are going to start looking into it soon, but I thought Id ask here first just to get an idea.. Thanks.

I asked this in the Mens health category, but they werent much help : Just telling me things like it will cost alot for him, but nothing to me, etc..lol. So anyways, We have 3 boys and a girl on the way in March. He has volunteered for the vasectomy, since I have had to go through childbirth. Anyways, Im just curious if anyone else's husband has done it and how did it go? I will do my own research on the subject later when it gets closer to the time to do it.

dont know were he came up with that dollar amount I had mine done for 150.00 at the doc office done on friday afternoon back to work on monday no big deal and that was cut and corterized. it take around 6weeks to be fully steril but I had little to no discomfort. I drive a tractor trailor for a living. and had no problems you can check with your local health dept if you qualify they will pay it for you. Good Luck

my father said his cost 1200. there are other options for men. i prefer vas-clips. there like a clip that goes onto the tube rather than cutting it. its less painful and less costly. also you can have them removed if you ever want children.
