Yes, a broken heart can indeed make someone wish to kill themself, or even attempt or succeed in killing themself. Usually it'll do that if other things in the person's life aren't going well too.
There is no reason a person should kill themself, though. Perhaps to save the life of another, but even that....
Broken hearts can be mended, no matter how shattered they are. True love heals everything. Trust me, I've seen it. Remind Sara of that.
Is Sara going to commit suicide?!? if you think this is the case you need to TELL SOMEONE. You can try talking to Sara first, telling her that you care about her and that there is still so much in life to live for, but if she doesn't look like she's listening, find someone who CAN stop her. It's hard to comfort someone suicidal on your own... don't be afraid to get help or you will really regret it! (sincerely hope I'm misunderstanding you and overreacting here, but don't take any chances when someone's life is involved!)
God bless,
Maethoriel

If someone was so totally wrapped up in that broken heart pain, then maybe...they could you know, kill themselves.
But be a friend and help her through it. Say you cant stop the pain but you can help make it lessen. Be the pain killer, where you show her whats more to life then just a heart broken.
Its also best to remind her how people in the war have always had there heart broken, but they kept on moving...they wanted to live and hope to meet another love that might make them happy.
It isnt EVER the end until it really is.

Nobody makes anyone do anything else they are holding that person down and physically forcing them. People don't make you annoyed or angry or suicidal, rather it's you that becomes annoyed, angry or suicidal, or whatever else. That should be clear up front, because if somebody kills themselves, then it is them that chose to commit the act, nobody made them do it.
Yes, people commit or attempt suicide because they are depressed, and having a broken heart is one type of depression. Do whatever you can for Sara, even telling her parents or a counselor. If she has mentioned suicide, then she might be serious. Even if she isn't, suicide isn't something that a person can't take back, so it's best to err on the side of caution in such matters. But if she does commit suicide despite anything people might have done to try to prevent it, then no one is to blame.

Yes, being heartbroken can lead to suicide, since the state of being heartbroken is the state of being depressed. You no longer crave the things that you wanted, you are not motivated to do things, or to pursue the things that you are passionate about. You see no point in getting up in the morning and getting on with the day, and with life for that matter. Of course, not everyone who are heartbroken kill themselves, eventually they get over it, but there are some people who do not, for the very same reason why people who have lost loved ones could never get past that and thus commit suicide.
Hope that helped.
P.S.- be a little bit more cheerful. Life is not just about being heartbroken or depressed, and you CAN control these feelings believe it or not; you can control how much you let people bring you down.

Yes, a broken heart could make someone want to kill them self. So as a friend, you need to watch out for her and get her mind off of him. A consular would be a good idea too. Just let her know, no guy is worth her unhappiness.

First .. if your friend is talking about suicide, you definately need to tell someone. It's not something that you should take for granted. To many teenagers go through with sucide and it could have been avoided.
Second, to answer your question, yes, but please remind your friend, that she is young, that many times in a life a heart will hurt, and destroying yourself for someone that has done damage to you will not solve anything. The heart will heal, she will love again, I promise you that. Be a good friend to her, support her, talk to her, but more important, tell someone about all of this, an adult that can help her.

Yes it can ...... After I broke up with my ex .... so called fiance ( who used, and cheated on me ) I was in my car ready to smash it into a wall to take myself out over her *** . But a inner voice told me call one of my best friend at the time, she rushed over to where I was and helped me through that difficult time. If it was not for her I would have killed myself over a female that was never worth my time of effort. And the good thing about it, my ex is now jealous at the fact I'm engaged with someone else.

the answer to this question is YES. many people commit suicide over lost love. I think as her friend you should coerce her to get proffessional help, or at least give her your own ear & as much love & understanding as you can. NO GUY IS WORTH A LIFE!!!! NO GUY!!!

Giving your all to someone that doesn't want it isn't your fault.Their not were you are at.Life bring about pain without pain there will not be no growth without growth there will not be no experience for you to share with that next broken hearted person that will be asking this same question on yahoo. That your asking now. You'll some day be able to tell them how a feeling doesn't kill it only heals the broken heart in time.Just know a person don't always get what they want at the time that they think they should have it.
