Jesus told us to celebrate his death ( last supper) not his birth. Paul the apostle NEVER mentioned about celebrating Jesus birth. The three wise men gave presents to Jesus only, nobody else. Jesus wasn't born on dec 25, actually that day was praticed several pagan rituals ( includding orgies) around the world. Pine trees adorned with gold and silver, are mentioned in Jeremiah chapter 10. See it for yourself, and be prepared is not good!
Christmas has nothing to do with Jesus and, my opinion true Christians should not celebrate it.

Jeremiah 10: 3 For the customs of the peoples are worthless; they cut a tree out of the forest, and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel. 4 They adorn it with silver and gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails so it will not totter. 5 Like a scarecrow in a melon patch, their idols cannot speak; they must be carried because they cannot walk. Do not fear them; they can do no harm nor can they do any good." 6 No one is like you, O Lord; you are great, and your name is mighty in power.

I hear you, Karen. And it seems that Christmas is reverting back to pagan celebrations more and more each year. All the commercialization, the over indulgence, is obscene IMO.

Yeah, he never said to celebrate His birth. But I don't think it's wrong.

I know that Dec. 25 wasn't His birthday, but it's nice to change or incorporate Jesus with Pagan holidays. I think because it's like a way of redeeming the culture. Easter is the same, Easter bunny, eggs have their roots in Pagan religions. But instead of wiping them out completely they still were able to use some things.

I don't see it as being sinful. But I wish that Easter did get more of a spotlight.

But Pine trees (and evergreen trees) are a symbol of God's endurance. There were everlasting trees in the temple.

Hosea compares God to a pine tree.

Merry Christmas. There's nothing wrong with celebrating His birth. It was an important event.

Friend I know Dec. 25 is not christ birthday, It was handed down by the catholic church But to think that having a Christmas tree is pagan, to a certain point the is true, What was those people doing They were cutting down a Cedar tree or pine tree, or what to decorate it & to WORSHIP it as an idol. That was wrong then & it is wrong to day, There is only ONE TRUE GOD, but as far as we cutting down a Christmas tree & bringing it into the house, just as long as you don't made it a God, there is nothing wrong with it, I don't have all my scriptures in front of m, I have been down a little with this flu bug. But There is many verses showing that Israel will use the cedars of Lebonon to beautyfied the temple of God & Tabnacle of David, in the old testsment & the new testament. There is scriptures. Sorry I feel bad & can not look up all those scriptures, If someone ask you why do you have a christmas tree, tell them thet is no more sin to have a Chritmas tree That will be thrown away in a few days, then some farmer that heats their house by wood, If wood is a sin, So is firewood. And by the way, I do have those scriptures as to what I said, But after I get to feeling better I will look them up & post them. Tell your neighbor tht you indend to throuh out the christmas tree in a few days, But he will not be able to get rid of all his wood until summer gets here.

I don't know the origins of the celebration of Christmas right off, but I'd ask what is wrong with celebrating to birth of the Savior of the universe? Before His birth we were nearly certain of death because of our sin. His birth marked to beginning of an era that meant complete reunion with God and heaven, the greatest gift that ever could be given to anyone. How is that not worth celebrating?

You are correct on the facts...but what is wrong with celebrating this wonderful holiday(Christmas) with your family and/or friends? I'm sure Jesus looks at your heart to see if you are a true Christian , and not the day you celebrate His birthday. God bless you and keep you !

Everything you said is correct, except...there's no mention of THREE wise men. That is a traditional teaching. All it says is there were three gifts; gold, frankincense & myrrh.
Jesus' actual birthdate is/was...September 23, 3 BCE; Biblically known as Tishre 15, 3998. Interesting that this year September 23 was the Biblical Feast known as Rosh Hashana; aka Jewish New Year!

thinks celebrating is discretional and personal. If I want to celebrate the day I first went to the bathroom, who is anyone to say Im wrong for that? YOu do what yo have to do. Live and let live. In the end Jesusu didnt instruct us on a lot of things we still do today. He didnt say to have anniversary parties wither, or things like that. and yet we still do it. So chill out. God Bless you by the way.

THE PASSOVER--APR 1 2007
FEAST OF UNLEAVEN BREAD--APR 3-9 2007
FEAST OF PENTECOST-- MAY 27 2007
FEAST OF TRUMPETS-- SEPT 13 2007
DAY OF ATONEMENT--SEPT 22 2007
FEAST OF TABERNACLES--SEPT 27-OCT 3 2007

Jesus keep all of these in the new testament and the appostles after He died.

Mr 7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
Mr 7:9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
Mr 7:13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

to be sure, there are many trappings in the Chirstmas celebration.
however, the Apostle Paul said not to judge each other in what "hollidays" we participate in.(big time paraphrase).-don't have my sword with me.

Jesus also did not command us to celebrate our own birthdays, however it is a common practice to do just that.(and even as christians most of us do not center the occasion around Christ.

I understand completly what you are saying, however,if our main focus is to celebrate our savior's birth during the Chirstmas season, then, I just do not see the problem.

We don't know for sure the exact date Jesus was born. There's nothing wrong with one day out of the year to honor his birth. Jesus participated in and enjoyed celebrations.
