Drinking really hot cocoa I got distracted and took a mouth-full, I spit it out and sucked on an ice cube, which was also painful, and now its become a nagging pain, with numbness.

What should/can I do to reduce the serverity of the injury?

What could the possible extend of the damage be? And if so, could it be permanent?
