It really depends on how mature your kids are and always tell the truth. My daughter was 6 or 7 when she started to ask and I told her the truth. I said mommy has the egg and the womb that babies need and daddy has the sperm that makes a baby come to life so it can grow into a beautiful baby. I then told her that daddy and mommy had to make love so I can get daddy's sperm and that was about it. She kind of lost interest because I was so matter of fact with her.

I don't have kids, but my mom started telling me about this when I was five. She had a really good kind of medical book with pictures. I don't think they will understand much at first. Just answer whatever questions they come to you with, and let them take it at their own pace. They will eventually want to know more. give them time in between to process the new information, and they will think of questions after that.

My son is 8 and I think he is on the verge of realizing it. The kids are talking at school. I think I was his age when I realized it. I figured out that my mom and him had the same handwriting. Now, the challenge will be to keep it from the 5 yr old once he finds out. Thanks for still being secretive by not mentioning "his" name! Merry X-mas!

I work in Kindergarten class room, our children are 5-6. They are smart and curious, we get many questions about the body and life. I think you should be honest, there are plenty of good books to help, try: It's so Amazing!: A Book About Eggs, Sperm, Birth, Babies, and Families by Robie Harris. Use a medical approach so you will help them to be mature about it.

I got that question asked when my son was 4 years old. He was in preschool, I didn't know how to answer. Anyways, my son thinks that I was eating watermelon and swallowed a seed. Then the seed got to big so I had to go to the hospital to take it out because I was constipated. Doesn't make sense but I didn't know what to say.

1 week old, I told him if he didn't stop crying he was going back where he came from!

Seriously though, the earlier the better. If you explain it *before* kids become embarrassed they are more likely to hear you and stay safe.

Goats have "Kids" people have children. It is your child not your kid, give the tot a little respect. Don't mean to be ctritical of you but I hear that term "Kid" used so often today in the wrong sense, anyway it's your child and your call.

If you have pets then they are going to see what happens anyway. So just tell them the truth when they ask
