Three options, from mildest to most radical:
1- Accept the balding. Some men can take it. It depends on your face shape. Yul Brynner and Michael Jordan are bold, and they sure look sexy to me. On the other hand, I have a childhood friend, whom I've seen losing his hair over the years until he was almost bold except for a little left in a semi circle at the back and up towards the ears, and sadly for him, he looked way better, really more handsome, with hair. He is not doing anything about it. He's a nerdy guy, who does not care much about how he looks.
2- Rogaine, the extra strength. Again, used religiously and forever - those are essential conditions - it IS effective. When you stop it though, you lose all the new hair that Rogaine gave birth to.
3- Hair transplants. It's getting better, meaning more natural and discreet, all the time. I'm looking into that for myself. My hair is really thinning at the front and crown. I would only go to a dermatologist or accredited plastic surgeon though, and ask for references among his patients. He shold not be saying I can't give you names. He should have some patients willing to speak for him and have indicated so to him (or her).
Please do not do the sweeping over, not get a hair wig...

I do not have any idea's a bout treatments, but I thin k if you worry about it, the process will happen quicker.
Perhaps it would help some for me to point out that women are not bothered about a man's hair that much. Some young girls are, but then that don't matter coz u r 40. Most women of the same age have wrinkles, greying hair, their bodies are moving south and they could do with a man who knows how to rub 'deep heat' in really well.
you are getting older, get older with dignity and grace, this is far more appealing than a full head of hair.

Some things in life are hard to control. It's hard when it really bothers us. I'm in my early 40's too. I always look at the inside of a person. I'm not bothered by whether they are balding or any other features that might worry some people. Naturally I like clean and well groomed. Walk proudly, I bet you look very handsome. That's my honest heartfelt answer. Beyond that, if I took a guess, maybe a hair transplant. But truely I'd let it go and be who you are. A wonderful person on the inside. Best Wishes to you.

try going for a head massage it might sound strange but if you massage the head it stimulates hair growth. we had a lady who lost all the hair on top of her head, come in to the salon. she came every week an now its much better she has hair on top of her head it is thinner than the rest but people wouldnt really be looking that close would they and it would look more natual on a man

Face the facts, I don‘t think you should use a toupee nor
have an implant. Take a look at Bruce Willis or Yul Brenner.
They took it normally and acting is better than ever and their
bald head added to their personality.

Genetics are a funny thing, aren't they? Members of the same family can definetly have different hair loss levels, so don't feel bad.
You can try the rogaine that is sold at drug and department stores.
There is also a nice product sold in salons called Nioxin if you like professional products.
If you are on medications they can affect hair loss as well.
Good luck!

It's only you it bothers, no one else that knows you cares so live with it, you will of course get a few mates calling you 'slap head' so what you can take that cant you?
Whatever else you do, do not draw attention to it by trying to cover it up with wispy bits, that looks really stupid, get any wispy bits cut off, visit a really good barber and ask him to cut it to suit, not to try and cover it up
Its all in your mind only, and if you appear agitated when friends have a go at you they will do it more, just laugh it off.
Been there done all that!
