I'm 13 too and in P.E at school we do fitness tests and we are only allowed to use 1kg or 2kg weights. Apparently, if you start too heavy, too young then you will damage your muscles

yeah, you can start weight lifting, but talk to a coach or gym teacher about how much. Youneed to start light, but more importantly you need to make sure you are in the right form. You can get hurt pretty bad by doing a weightlifting exercise wrong. If your parents will let you join a gym talk to a personal trainer. Don't just rely on a buddy or older brohter. Some highschools have weight lifting classes, check into that for next semester, or are you still in jr high?

In most states it is illegal to do 12 ounce curls until you are 21.
