Your mother cares about what you do and how you do it. be glad about that. Some kids have parents who do not give a rip.
Secondly, you should tell your mother where and why you went out late. Or were you just late for curfew? No one needs to GO out at midnight if you were in the rest of the evening. I am very suspicious of such things. Drugs and all that.
Thirdly, do not expect it back today. Make other arrangements with her approval. You will have to WORK hard to regain her trust.

Yes, do chores around the house without being asked or complaining.

And if you can manage to do this..don't mention the car at all today or this evening. See if she says anything to you.

Kind of use reverse psychology on her, if she sees that you aren't freaking out about it, the car may not be a weapon for her!

As a parent myself, I wouldnt give you the car back right away no matter what you do. It would be a few days before I would even consider it. Your first thing to do is apologize and promise not to do it again. And you better mean it.

well, behave totally good for like a couple of weeks and she will change her mind. (or one thing try saving and working for a car)
