Should I take her car seat to put her in on the plane or just buckle her into the seat? Good ideas for quiet toys to keep her occupied?

You are going to need a LARGE bag of tricks. Crayons, music with earphones, books to read to her...... Go to Target and look around, I'm sure you can find something.

When I fly with my little one I take a back pack for her with 2-3 books, a color book,a favorite toy like a baby doll.- don't take to much because they want to try and get it out all at one time, or a bunch of little toys as they can get lost to ez.
as for the car seat if you can put it below on the plane - you have enough to keep track of and your hands are going to be full enough with out the car seat.
Another thing you need is a leash of children - because as you know kids can get away from you so fast - when I flew with my little one it was a life saver the only time she could take it off was once we were in the air ,and then before landing it had to go back on.
Take some gummy bears for her to eat on take off and landing - most 2 year olds don't do real well with gum.
Hope this helps .

I wouldn't use the car seat, mainly b/c I would worry about the bulk of trying to get through the airport with a toddler and a large seat in tow.

Crayola has these magic artist packets where the markers will only color on the special paper. They come in many different chracters, or you can just get the plain. Mine are 2 and 3 and love them. Plus it won't be messy!

Nesting cups are great, and quiet. This is also a fundamental skill she needs to be learning at this stage, nesting one cup within another. They have many different styles, and colors. Discovery Toys has some really neat ones that also can help her learn numbers and basic math. ( I use them in tutoring and introducing math skills)

Wooden puzzles are good! MIne love them! They have them in shapes, numbers, letters, animals etc. I am all about learning toys that don't require batteries. Also, you can have her make a story about the animals, or look at the colors and how they go together in groups.

Board Books, Board Books, Board Books!!!! What a great way to encourage your child to read later in life! My 2 year old will sit and flip for over an hour. Take her to a local bookstore Barnes and Noble should have a good selection. And let her choose some of her favorite characters. The DK books are wonderful for her ag group and have a veritable smogasboard of topics!!!

I hope this helps and Bon Voyage!
Amy

A vehicle seat isn't mandatory. carry a Doodle professional so she will "draw" and magically erase. that is relaxing for them. Wal-Mart contains slightly one for basically a greenback. additionally carry a snack for her. i don't understand how long the flight is, yet with any luck they'll tutor a comic strip on the airplane. I had to holiday with a newborn a pair of years in the past. It became right into a nightmare. We had a ten hour flight. i'm hoping your flight isn't that long. fat crayons or washer-friendly markers and a coloring e book will artwork for a little while. youngsters Looove markers. i understand she's basically 2, yet once you get her some protection scissors she will have a super time studying the thank you to apply them. do purely not enable her surely decrease products out of paper. attempt to basically enable her make right away cuts on the perimeters of the paper. That way there is not any mess to maintain song of. They like to push buttons so in case you have get entry to to a variety of little video games that sometimes come from a McDonald's chuffed Meal which would be a very good element to borrow from an older youngster. good success.

I disagree with everyone saying not to bring the carseat.
Its the safest way to travel abord a plane. Also once you get to your destination who's carseat will you be using??? Its better you take your ownthat you are familiar with along with your child. If you are visiting relatives you can ship your belonging in advance so you wont have to carry with so much but maybe a small carry on with toys crayons paper a portable DVD player and some movies. an 1 small bag with a few personal belonging. You can haul your stuff on a stroller that they have provided at the airport until you reach relatives or a taxi to help you.

I took my son when he was a year and a half old on a plane myself.....I have 3 words for you....

PORTABLE DVD PLAYER!!!!

Worked like a charm for me! Lots of snacks, dvds, books, and some small toys and we were fine! I had 2 3 hour flights and a 2 hour layover and I did just fine :D MAKE SURE YOU TAKE A STROLLER!!!!! And I did not take a carseat...just buckled him into the regular seat!

As far as the car seat, I would say call ahead and ask if they have a seat that would be safe for your daughter or if they would perfer for you to bring your own. Yet once you get there you will more then likely need one for her of your own. For a 2 year old, it really depends on what she likes to do. You can bring crayons and many different kinds of coloring books, her favorite baby doll, a special stuffed animal that she likes, if she has a special blanket it is a must to bring that, a hand held game like dora or blues clues which is geared for toddlers, many books to read to her and have her "read" the pictures in the books to you as you read them to her, get a blank puzzle and write her name on it, and show her how to put it together to spell her own name... let her try but give her hints ya know. Things like that will make for a better ride for the both of ya'll. I hope this helps you and Have a great flight to you both! Also you can bring pictures like a photo album.

I definitely agree with NOT using your car seat! I know from experience how difficult it is to drag along a 2yr old, luggage ,stroller and car seat. It's not fun and you don't want to have your hands too full! The portable DVD player always works well, but if you don't have one you can stock up on coloring books and crayons. My daughter loved looking out the plane window at that age,so try to make sure she has the window seat. And take along one of her favorite blankets,so she feels comfortable enough to sleep if she gets tired.

Airlines are very helpful for mothers alone with children. Call the airline ahead of time and they may arrange early boarding and take care of you along the way. I think they have a suitable seat for the child. Ask them. My wife traveled with my child and found them very helpful.

a big back of new toys! my mom did it with me and my brother when we were toddlers and it worked (22 hour flight as well). Ideas: coloring books, sticker books, nursery rhymes on tape, books to read, small stuffed animal, some snacks, a doll and a comb to comb the dolls hair, books on tape, crayons and paper, etc.

good luck!!
happy holidays :)
