I downloaded Incredimail the other day but it is more trouble than it is worth and am now trying to uninstall it. I am going through the correct stages; Add/Delete program and then, right at the end when I click to uninstall, this pop up box appears with the following message. '' You need to have Administrator or Power user privileges in order to uninstall Incredimail.

For assistance contact your system administrator.

This is my personal computer at home and only I use it, so I suppose I am the above mentioned. Help!

In Windows XP the Administrator account is not always listed on the login screen. You can still log into it, though ... by rebooting into 'Safe Mode'. Keep pressing F8 when Windows begins to boot, and you'll be given a list of boot options, one of which is 'Safe Mode' (only). Select that, and the 'Administrator' account will appear on the login screen.

From here it's easy. Once you've signed in as 'Administrator':

* Right-click on My Computer
* Click on Manage
* Expand Local Users and Groups
* Click on Groups
* Double click on Administrators
* Click on Add
* Enter the account name on this machine that you want to assign administrative privileges to
* OK your way back out.

Now reboot your machine normally, and the account you selected should now have administrative access.

Well when it means you need to be the Administrator, it means that you actually have to be the computer Administrator. An administrator is the person who can delete passwords from other accounts on the computer, as well as create accounts. Try other accounts on your computer. To find out if you are a computer administrator you can go to Control Panel, then User Accounts, then User Accounts again. IF you are the computer Administrator then it should say Computer Administrator underneath it. If it doesn't then find the account that does say Computer Administrator underneath it and use that account to delete the program. If none of the accounts are administrators then open the Start Menu, then go to All Programs, then go to the folder that has your program. when you open it up it should say Uninstall Incredimail. then just click on it and follow the process. If none of these things work then you are in a sticky situation and you cannot uninstall it unless you you completely destroy your CPU

There are three ways to uninstall/remove a program.
1) Stop the program by right click menu on the icon in the taskbar and then try to uninstall in add/remove program.
2) Turn off computer. After two minutes Turn power ON. Now press F8 and select safe mode from the menu while booting the computer. then follow step 1.
3)Remove the program from startup menu as follows
(start > run > type msconfig
press ok. Click on startup, uncheck it from the list. click on apply. click on ok. press restart. Check the window that appears after restart, press ok)
Then go to control panel > add/remove program to uninstall.

If nothing of the above works. Then The best way to remove unwanted programs which you can not remove from add/remove dialog in control panel on your computer is to remove it from registry. If you are comfortable with manually editing registry, otherwise use registry cleaning software like RegScrubXP to remove the entries of offending software from registry and then use a cleaning software like ccleaner to remove other files such as exes, dlls etc created by the offending program.
Free RegScrubXP registry cleaner
http://bestofrest.blogspot.com/2006/11/regscrubxp-registry-cleaner.html

downlod + install + run it.
When you get in the software window.
Click on user defined problems button.It will display all entries in windows registry under different categories. So scroll down the list till you reach a category company. In this category look at the names in full key, and Main key. If you locate the name there, then check the box in front of its entry and press the button Fix selected entries. It should remove the entry from the registry.
After that you will need another software to remove other files created by the program on your computer. It is ccleaner, if you do not have it already; read how to use it and then download it from here.

log off and log on as administrator, if u dont have administrator profile then create one in control panel( then click user profiles),
u can't uninstall that Incredimail because u dont have the privileges.

good luck ok.

I would try going directly to the hard drive of your computer (usually C drive) then opening up program files. Find the incredimail file and delete it from there (you may need to open up the file and delete individually)

First check if you are admin by going to the the picture by your name on the start menu. it will open up a window called user accounts. look for the tab called home and click it. it should show all the accounts on your computer. under yours is should say admin. if it does not then click on yours and click change account. then choose admin and then you will be and administrator.

Next go to www.download.com and look for a uninstaller to uninstall the program you want.
