Your right they use God's name because they know that more idiots will follow his name, with all these false promises of a Paradise if they murder people, man kind is ruled by the need for power, and his greed to control everything that's not his, or not what they want. They use God's name to control the women dress, when to pray, what to eat, when to work, but all these things are only done when it suits them, God did not want any of this, he did not, and does not want people to be falsed to follow him with lies

Religion is just one of many excuses used to manipulate people into going into war.
Greed of some form or another is a Major cause of all wars.
Over population is part of the cause ( limited resources spread among more people creating a struggle between the limited resources because there are more people and the spiral increases )
War is one of the few ways used to control the human population since any form of birth control is forbidden by most if not all religions.
Assuming that God created humans in his own image one can reasonably make the assumption that God is a greedy, evil and just plain mean entity because that in my humble opinion describes the human condition.
Oh sure you do not think of your self as mean or evil but in the right conditions very very few of us would not rise to the occasion and be just as mean ,evil or greedy as the worst of us and the only thing stopping us in the right conditions.
War huh! What is it good for ? ( a 60's song ) next line was absolutely nothing. The reality is it is good for war profits and population / crowd control . Does religion have anything to do with it? Well here in the USA religion is the only thing that isn't taxed so maybe it does. The current president claims to be a born again christian and he has started two wars and indirectly had a hand in killing ten if not hundreds of thousands of people along with torturing hundreds or thousands of others. Is religion to blame or just the president?

If you go all the way back in time you will see that they have used religion as a reason for war for thousands of years.Such as the Holy Wars, They had nothing to do with religion, but with greed and the inability to understand or just not want to understand other types of worship. Calling the wars based on religion was just an excuse to what was really going on which was ignorance and more power over others.

Men were fighting before there was any organized religions. First they fought for first pick of the food or food that was stored, they fought over mates, and then they fought over the choicest of land. Either for strategic sites or because the soil was good and it was near water.
They started with killing with rocks and made more technical weapons. You take away the technical weapons they will go back to rocks.
If anything religion has taught many men they can arise above all that greed and look to the Heavens for peace, its not perfect but its sure better than what was there before it.
But those that hate even the thought of organized religion use the media as propaganda for how bad religion is...communism showed how horrible a 'no religion allowed' regime could be but as long as the media continuese to brainwash those who stare at the screen(day after day) nobody will think for themselves and blame it all on religion.

Because that is how religious leaders stay in power by encouraging governments to go to war to bring so called freedom and democracy to countries when in reality what they want is to convert these countries and the people in them to their religion and if they will not convert then kill them. This is how all religions operate, they always have done and always will do until religion is banned through out the world and all religious lunatics locked away probably in Antarctica where they can carry out their homicidal wars on their own.

there are many reasons why nations go to war, territory, greed, power, etc but if one religion feels persecuted or is trying to be the dominant religion or its leader are psychopathic maniacs then people will go to war in the name of whatever god/s they believe in.. its just human nature...if there was no religion there would still be war but simply one less reason to fight over, but im sure something else would take its place

Hitler was a catholic. Also, Stalin may well have been an atheist, but he did nothing in the name of atheism. The crusades, the inquisition, the Catholics killing the protestants, the protestants killing the Catholics, the start of the troubles in Ireland, one of Hitler's reasons for hating the Jews, and the Iraq war have all been caused directly by people's belief in Christianity. Read your Bible, its full of violence and calls to arms against the non-believers. No wars have been started in the name of atheism. No murderers have claimed that they were doing what they were doing because there is no god, but many have claimed god told them to. I'm of Jewish decent. Don't you think i might have looked into why Hitler felt the need to slaughter my ancestors?

Why do people blame religion for war?
They hate God and use it for an excuse. They don't want to admit that man is sinful and that therefore they are sinful.

I agree with you to a certain degree. I think political leaders whether they're with the Americans or al-Qaeda are just greedy, power-hungry people. Religion is an excuse they use for creating violence.
