The preacher does not tell them to do that, he takes verse in the bible that lead to wars. Look take this claim from the bible, The Israelites Claim God Gave them a country. Now If the Asians would find an old scroll that their ancestors left for them for future use and they claim God gave them a country & that country was Cuba. Now they act on that claim with the blessing of the believers. What would happen? WAR
So what I'm telling you is the bible is a book of claims, God said gold has worth, So do you understand, the preacher, is the mouth peice of the bible, get followers that will believe, so that you can pass your claims.
For the christians, the claim is Jesus died for their sins, a promise to those that believe etheral live, streets of gold and a home. That is a Claim and that's worthy of going to war for. Of course it's all a lie, but the claims go forward with the blessing of the people that believe god said that.
