also, can i substitute cayenne pepper for crushed red pepper? is red pepper the sweet one or are they both hot?

They probably mean a 1-lb. box but that's, (in my opinion), still a lot of sugar. But I'm not a big fan of sweet barbeque sauces. You can always adjust accordingly.

By how much did you mean the weight or the cost????

Crushed red pepper and cayenne pepper are both hot. Because the crushed red pepper is flakes and the cayenne is usually powdered, a teaspoon of cayenne will pack more punch than a teaspoon of crushed red pepper. Use a little less cayenne.

I wouldn't trust that recipe! Just because it's online doesn't mean it's a good recipe. Using one whole box of brown sugar with only 2 cups of ketchup? It'll be a mess.

Try using a cup of brown sugar, packed and see how it tastes, then if you prefer more, add 1/2 cup more at a time until it tastes like you want it to.

depends on the brand, no more than $3.00
and i think that cayenne peppers are more hot so try using less of them

Do you mean in price or how much is in the box ? The box will tell you how much it contains .
