Lyfsavr is right. One other reason to refrain from sex while on antibiotic therapy for UTI is that the antibiotic puts you at higher risk for a yeast infection. To avoid UTIs in the future drink plenty of water, avoid taking baths (shower instead), drink cranberry juice, take vitamin C, and make sure to urinate after sex. Vitamin C decreases the pH of your urine making for an environment that is unfavorable for the growth of infectious bacteria. Also, while you are on the antibiotic it might be a good idea to eat yogurt to replace the natural fauna that combats yeast.

You can..but I would highly advise against it, depending on how long you have been on the antibiotics (you are on antibiotics, right?). Most physicians say to wait until you have been on the medicine for 3 days before resuming normal sexual activity. This is to prevent spread of the infection to your partner and also to reduce discomfort to you. If it has been more than 3 days, you are really no longer contagios. I would use caution though, as you might still experience some discomfort during and maybe even after. If you are still in doubt, and would like a more clear answer as to when exactly you can resume normal sexual activity, speak to the prescribing physician. He knows you better than any of us here, and can give you better advice. Take care and good luck.

as long as your infection isn't sexually transmitted (most uti's aren't) it should be fine.
