I think that a lot of the people who claim to be Christian have little understanding, let alone knowledge, about the Bible. In the Old Testament, God was wrathful and quite mean, simply put. In the New Testament, He was understanding of man and forgiving. How does that add up really? I think a lot of people take one or two things from their religion and embrace that because it fits their beliefs which are already present, rather than embracing their religion as a whole. Fortunately, my beliefs allow me to be observant, but otherwise "agree to disagree" if my beliefs clash with another person's. As for the murder question, I cannot answer it as a Christian but as an Asatruar, if it's for justice or to prevent major injustice (such as for the safety of one's family) it is a necessary thing, just an unpleasant thing. Judging others ignorantly is never a necessary, nor a pleasant, thing to do.

A person can make mistakes and commit sins but that does not make their soul evil. They can and some day will return to the light and return to God.
The key is to separate the action from the "person" or soul.

Example: A child has been warned not to play ball in the house. As soon as the parents attention is elsewhere the child plays ball and breaks an irreplaceable item.

So do you judge the child and say they did this on purpose and didn't listen and are a terrible child who should be condemned? Or do you judge the act and say they made a mistake in judgment which has consequences, like being grounded. You still support them and help them to grow up and be a happy soul.

You can point out that the actions are wrong and there are consequences to every action, thought and deed.

Ultimately we need to follow the rules of Love God, Love Others and Love Ourself.

It is wrong to murder someone. Not because it is God's law but because you have hurt someone and their family. Nobody has a right to hurt anyone. I do believe in life things even horrible things happen for a reason so we can learn to be safer and know that we are not immortal. For instance, if someone dies at an intersection in a car accident, don't they put up traffic lights for the next time? It is ashame that we have to learn so brutally, however, if we didn't have something traumatic happen I believe we would never learn at all.

People who aren't Christians often make this mistake. Only God can judge people and their works on Earth, but Christians can judge the actions and sins of others and decide to try and witness to that person or avoid them altogether. They can also warn others about the danger of the sins being committed.

When we say, "Only God can judge", we mean our opinions about things try to reflect how God would feel about a matter, not necessarily our own personal feelings.

That's why we call it trusting Him.

I'm not sure I personally agree with Him on several issues, but if I trust Him over my own understandings, then I will have shown trust in Him, not me.

no. God judges your fate in the afterlife based on what have you done right and what you have done wrong. Christians are supposed to determine what is right and what is wong moraly.
