I ordered some items via the internet sometime ago. My card has not been charged for the transaction. Is there a limit to when the merchant has to charge my card?
I don't want to assume my card won't be charged, spend the money, and then get hit with the charges.

When you say some time ago, how long ago? If you already got the goods, it could be a human mistake. I wouldn't call them and remind them but don't spend the money either. They may discover the mistake later. They could also send you a paper bill if they somehow can't charge your card. Just put the money aside and wait for a year.

Typically you card is charged once you place the order. Other times it is not charged until the order had been shipped. They also could have made a mistake and forgot to process it. Always assume the money has been deducted or just call the company and ask them what the holdup is and there policy on transactions

You don't say if you got the goods or not, but as someone pointed out, they are not allowed to charge you until they ship it. If they have not shipped it, and you don't want it to be charged anymore, cancel the order. If you have the goods and it's been some time, then I recommend calling the vendor's customer service number or writing them an email asking about the charge.

Close the credit card in question, then they cannot charge it.

merchandise ordered online will be charged once the item has been released for shipment, and never before that. its the law.
