She must really need lots of love now. She may be missing her family or maybe she has never received much love before and it certainly sounds like she is enjoying your loving presence.
You can communicate with her by thinking of her and thinking the words you want to say to her. You can tell her that even though she can't be on your lap right now you still love her and she can cozy up again with you soon. Enjoy the closeness!

Can you figure out some games to play with her? Crumple up a piece of paper and toss the ball out there for her to play with. If she doesn't seem interested, bat it around a bit. Kittens also love empty toilet paper rolls, little things hanging on string. Avoid cat nip until she is full grown.
What kind of meowing noises does she make? Are they sweet little "miews" or do they sound more compelling? Probably she is just loving and talkative.
As the others suggested, probably you should take her to a vet for a checkup. She could be lonely, as you probably know. But she loves you.

Cats in general sleep ALOT. One of my cats, the one in my avatar, she is a talker. She will meow at anything and everything. She usually stops meowing if you hold her or pet her. Spot, my male cat, he really didn't play as a kitten, might have been the circumstances from his up bringing. We got him at 2 days old as his mom abdonded her litter of kittens, we found him in time but no his litter mates. So he didn't have anyone to play with like other cats.
If you haven't done so, get her to the vet, and just make sure that she doesn't have worms or anything, they can zap energy from a kitten big time.

She may be missing her brothers and sisters, let alone her mom, esp. if she was taken away too young. If she is Siamese bread she would be vocal, they are one of the most vocal breads of cats. You should take her to a vet to check she is healthy and get her shots done, you can also express your concerns at that time.
Cats sleep 18 hours a day. Read that in a cat book.

Kittens are very much like us, where we are babies we grow as we sleep. As for the crying when they are not on your lap. Again, like babies, you have replaced the mother cats position, and they cry because they need your love

she's a baby and a cat and thus will sleep tons...she's probably feeling insecure and needs the comfort of being held and close to someone..maybe she was taken away from her mother and littermates too soon..just love her she'll probably end up being such a great lapcat

Baby kittens do sleep alot, just like human babies. They love to be cuddled with. Has your kitty been to a vet?
