Actually, all of these fields are interlinked. Medicine and genetics coincide with each other, since we now understand the role of genetics in disease, we can evaluate patients based on their genetic information, or genotype. Botany relates to medicine because many genetic studies are conducted on plants due to the fact that it is easily to selectively fertilize plants to produce a desired plant genotype. Also, many plant enzymes and plant parts are used as medicines or for herbal remedies. Because these three are so closely linked, one field cannot advance without the help of another. This is why scientists must work together to share our findings with each other, so everyone wins.
