No, you have a very warped view of pet ownership. I have both a dog and a horse. Neither of these animals do I dominate. Firstly there is no way at 5' 10" and 150lb I could physically dominate a horse, which is far stronger and bigger than me and I am only too well aware that if the horse really bolts I will not be able to control it, though I may be eventually to bring it back under control.

Nor is this control a mental domination, horses being a prey species that depends on flight for survival have a strong instinct to run from many unusual stimuli and it is only by careful training that the horse learns to trust the rider sufficiently to overcome such stimuli. These stimuli can be as innocuous as a paper bag.

If you would argue that such training is domination then bear in mind it is exactly the same as the training by which a human animal becomes a person; repetition and reward.

In short the rider must win the trust of the horse, he must give the horse to accept him as a wise horse who will lead him away from danger. A rider who does not do that, either consciously or not, is putting both his own and the horse's life in danger.

A similar relationship exists between the responsible dog owner and their dog, one of mutual trust not one of domination. There may of course be bad dog owners who do regard their pet as a slave but your question asked about people in general and generally is untrue

I think most people adopt dogs for companionship not dominance.
It is a key part of training a dog to assert yourself as 'the boss', but that doesn't mean treating your dog like a slave.

Unfortunately, I know of someone that has dogs, and that is the reason I think they have them. It should not be, but some people are under the impression that it is important to be the "alpha" with dogs. Alpha is fine if you're living with wolves, but dogs were domesticated to be social animals with humans. They understand people provide the necessities and most dogs want more than anything, for their guardians to be happy with them. This is what they thrive on. A lot of people buy into the alpha thing (hence the popularity of The Dog Whisperer).

NO they are not, they are loveable, playful animals that need love and attention. CATS are for lazy inadequate people because all you have to do is let thim use the bathroom all week in a stinky box and then they get all over your furniture and cabinets, etc. with their nasty litter, piss and poop feet! they are nasty! DOGS ARE NOT, they actually require work! and are SMART.

I don't see how dogs are slaves to us, my dog doesn't do anything for me other than chill with me... hahaha I think WE are the ones that are slaves to the dogs!

I think that is a bit harsh to say that. I think people love dogs purely because they are beautiful creatures that love you no matter what.
