I painted a wall with Currant Jam- it's a maroonish color. It came out crappy with too many dark spots. Does anyone have any suggestions? If I keep going over it, the dark spots will just get darker. How do I start over? Can I sand it off?

I have found the best way to re-do a wall (especially with a dark color paint) is to cover it with a product called "Kilz". It is designed to completely cover any stains (or in this case, dark spots). It will dry white. Then you can repaint with your color. One reason you may have dark spots in the original paint is uneven brush/roller strokes that leave a heavier concentration of paint in some areas.

Another possibility, if you don't have your heart set on a solid colored wall, is to sponge a complimentary color on top of the paint. You can do this with an eggshell color or even a lighter shade of the color you used. I saw a beautiful room once that was done with a dark maroon base paint, an eggshell color sponged lightly over it, then gold accent veins painted on top of that. Stunning!

Because it sounds like there is red in the paint, you will have to either remove the paint first by sanding, or else get a primer/sealer that is designed for covering red paint (not all of them are) because otherwise, the red will simply continue to bleed through the other paints. One thing you could do if these don't work is to find a paintable wall paper and paint your color of choice on that.

First, restore the wall! make confident the outdoors of the backer board is precisely the way you want it, then get some spray paint called "equipment epoxy." it truly is a Rust-oleum uniqueness paint. study the instructions and positioned on a mask or possibly a respirator (i anticipate your bathe is a quite close area with little air flow). those products is provided in a sort of shades, and it really is going to very last see you later because the abode does. I did my bathe over 4 years in the past and it nonetheless seems very nearly as good because it did on the first day.
