They DO eat cat meat. They'll eat anything they can catch that doesn't eat them first.

Yes they do. It always makes me think about why some people in this country are so shocked by it when they eat meat from other animals and they don't care? No one would want to see a cat or dog slaughtered for food, so why doesn't it matter just because it happens to be a cow or a pig or a chicken? Many people keep farm animals as pets too! I think Western society has been totally conditioned and accepts it as the norm. Very sad.

I know about dogs being eaten, but did not know about cats until I saw the answers here. I was told by friends (Asian) that extreme poverty, which means hunger is how this came about. Rodents are eaten as well; I have a friend (Filipino) who described to me how they would catch, clean, and roast (on a skewer) rats. I listened, but on the inside I was thinking I was going to pass out! But as awful as it sounds, it's just a means to survive. Oh yes, most insects are eaten as well.
There is a black market for dog meat in Los Angeles, but I'm sure this is everywhere. I know it is sold in Chinatown. A few years ago two markets were closed for this reason. I find it interesting that the people who still want to eat the dog meat are here in America and no longer poor! That's enough for now; I feel kind of sick now.

There are no logical reasons to farm & eat one particular animal over another other than cultural habit. And it's not just "Asian country", many countries eat meat that might seem unusual to you, but nevertheless are tasty & nutritious. Commonly eaten meats outside Asia but not in Europe or America include wombat, kangaroo, rat, mouse, snake, 'deep-sea bug', spiders, and all manner of insects.
Incidentally, YOU eat a bunch of insect parts, too, if you eat any kind of cereal or grain or bread made with a cereal or grain; it is not possible to harvest grains without capturing and processing bugs, to, so they end up in your bread...
Bon appetit!

I'm sorry, that's repulsive and disgusting. I think, however, there are some such places that DO eat cat meat. I guess it's all in what your culture dictates.
