NIce thought..but Ya think that would really happen/ that would be like asking Bush and his family to stop eating or breathing just because the troops families need it more. life goes on.

Annual Christmas parties at the White House are a tradition. If nothing else our servicemen and women are fighting for America. They hold our beliefs in high regard and if you believe that it is their wish that people in America suspend their lives or radically alter their lifestyles then you truly do not understand what patriotism is all about. I can tell you without fear of being wrong that the average service person takes great honor in the fact that life goes on as normal in America while they are fighting for our causes because it is their sacrifice and devotion to duty which allows this.

Our troops are over there fighting so that we can have those Christmas parties. They are all volunteer, so they chose to do what they do. Its so sad that there are people like you who never look at the good side of things. America is not the bad guy. Our enemies who want to kill you and I are. I assure you, the families dont care if the White house has a Christmas party, so you shouldnt either.

You have a point, but isn't keeping morale up here at home just as important? We cannot support our troops so well that we let our countrymen down at home either.
Our troops DO deserve a party, and for Thanksgiving I know ever single one of them ate better than I did. Our troops deserve our undying thanks for doing what we here at home could or did not, but that does not mean the country should shut down.

does that mean that you are going to donate all your holiday gifts to the USO, or to the armed forces depoyed?
I'm sure they would enjoy it.
Or is the president the only person expected to show this sort of generosity?

No. I think that on December the 19th George W., Lil Laura and the two drunken daughters should go over and celebrate with our gang in Iraq. I'm sorry but I have no use for that man or his family!
