Taiwan's Culture
Taiwan has a very closely related culture to Mainland China but it's culture is unique to itself. Not only does it have Fuqian/Hakka culture, the younger generation have developed their own "sense" of identity to counterbalance any sort of pro-Unification sentiment. Also, not to forget are the smaller aborginal tribes of Taiwan. Their rich culture such as Paiwan and many others contribute to Taiwan's diversity.

Food:
Although many of the Taiwanese stick to Taiwanse/Chinese delicacy, western food chains are common around Taiwan. Exotic dishes such as Bull Penis, Tiger penis, and other different dishes can be found on a special street in Taipei.

Amazing Buildings
Taiwan is known for it's special "medieval" look hotel that looks like a gigantic traditional Chinese buidling. This hotel is very famous and has a huge retuarant. In addition to this building, Taiwan proudly hosts the tallest building in the world. At 101 stories, this building has anti-hurricane/typhoon designs, and a massive mega tonned ball in the middle of buidling to keep it stable. Although many people have commented that Building 101 looks like Chinese takeout boxes stacked together, it should be noted that there are many symblols on the building such as "dragons" and other Chinese traditional symbols.

Special Animals:
Taiwan has many endemic animals and plants that are only known to be on the island. Animals special to Taiwan include the black faced spoonbill and other flowers

taiwan is actually the neighbor of my country, Philippines. Like my country they have great culture and also food (but ours is better I think) But to be honest the buildings in Taiwan are far better than ours although Filipino's are really great architects and are hired worldwide... special animals in Taiwan are limited really for it is but a small Island and there is not much of a forest in the country... But when you go to the Philippines I assure you of a good stay at low cost.. true hospitality and great animals of any kind!!

Chinese culture, amazing food, world's tallest building, stray dogs all over the place.

Very cool place.

The food was by far the best thing for me. Such a variety, good prices, really delicious. Lots of weird things to eat too like stinky tofu, congealed blood, etc. if you're into that sort of stuff.

Taiwan (Traditional Chinese: 臺灣 or 台灣; Simplified Chinese: 台湾; Hanyu Pinyin: Táiwān; Wade-Giles: T'ai-wan; Taiwanese: Tâi-oân) is an island in East Asia. "Taiwan" is also commonly used to refer to the territories administered by the Republic of China (ROC), a state whose effective area of administration consists of the island of Taiwan, Lanyu (Orchid Island) and Green Island in the Pacific off the Taiwan coast, the Pescadores in the Taiwan Strait, and Kinmen and Matsu off the southeast coast of the territories administered by the People's Republic of China (PRC).

The main island of Taiwan, sometimes also referred to as Formosa (from Portuguese, meaning "graceful"), is located off the coast of the territories administered by the People's Republic of China, south of Japan and north of the Philippines. It is bounded to the east by the Pacific Ocean, to the south by the South China Sea and the Luzon Strait, to the west by the Taiwan Strait and to the north by the East China Sea. The island is 394 kilometers (245 miles) long and 144 kilometers (89 miles) wide and consists of steep mountains covered by tropical and subtropical vegetation.
