is there such a place as scantrone italy?

i found my grandfathers records on the ellis island website. it says he was from scantrone italy. i've never heard of it & can't find it on the web. maybe the person writing the info didn't understand him. any ideas or info regarding scantrone would be appreciated.

You may be right about the Ellis Island person writing the name of the town just not communicating properly. Perhaps there are others in the Ellis Island records with a similar town name. Try removing your grandfathers first name (just search on the last name) and see if maybe someone recorded the town slightly different. Also, try Family Search - perhaps they got it right. I put an Italy white pages link below. My first thought was to try Yahoo, but nothing came up. You could try Google Earth, but that could take days. Also, you can play around in Wikipedia, at the link below, just go back and forward, trying different parts.
