have long hair and when I get out of the shower my hair is always tangled. I leave my conditionor in my hair for about 5 minutes maybe longer and I have tried many different brands. When I comb it I use a wide tooth comb. Does anyone know anything that I can use or do so it will not get so tangled? I would like to use something that does not make my hair look greasy.

comb your hair while the conditioner is in then, but it sounds like your not using the right conditioner. YOu need one that leaves your hair feeling silky smooth while the conditioner is in.

My hair is long too. This is what works for me:

Before washing, I brush my hair free of tangles, working gently from the bottom up.

--In the shower, I wash my hair first.
--Then I put in the conditioner. I use a 'shampoo brush' to gently comb the conditioner through to the ends. (A shampoo brush is a round plastic thing with a litte curvy handle that is actually made to help you scrub your scalp. They are cold near the combs.)
--Then I wash the rest of my body while the conditioner stays in. You should be able to feel the 'smoothness' of the conditioner in your hair while it is wet. So find one that works for you. Right now I am using 'Sleek' by Suave.
--When I get out of the shower, before I dry my hair, I use a spray-on, leave-in conditioner. I like to use equine (horse) show grooming products. I use Show Sheen. Not only does it make your hair shiny, it is a great detangler. The bottle lasts a long time.
--Safety tip: if you use the show sheen, be careful if you have tile floors. If you get any 'over spray' that settles on your tile or smooth floor, the floor could get slippery.

Good luck with your locks.

you need to comb you hair IN the shower hun with the conditioer STILL in it. When you have detangled you hair, then you wash out the conditioner. Also, you need to start brushing your hair from the bottom and work your way up. If you keep brushing down from the roots, you will always end up with a mass of knots at the bottom. Hope this helps!!

I can'f really help you without knowing what hair type you have, but your problem could be from hair coloring, well water, or dry, split ends. If you do color your hair, try something specifically for color-treated hair, like Pantene's Color Revival. I used to have the same problem, and haven't had that problem since I started using Pantene Pro-V Smooth and Sleek formula. (I have long, color-treated, naturally wavy hair.) Good luck!
