Their nickname "The Honest Men", is taken from the poem "Tam o' Shanter" by Robert Burns.

"Auld Ayr, wham ne'er a town surpasses,
For honest men and bonie lasses"

It is from the the Burns Poem but as Burns' was a celebrated drunken philanderer we can hardly take his word for it!! Lets be honest, 80% of people in Ayr are the type of supporters who have Ayr as there 2nd team after Rangers and never ever go to ANY games which is why they are so rubbish!!!

No - it is from a Burn's poem that describes Ayr as the home of honest men and bonnie lassies. It celebrates the link between Ayr and Robert Burns.
