My wife and I have been on a work out regimine for 3 months now. We meet with a personal trainer once a week, go to the gym about 5 days a week. We eat portion controlled meals every 3 hours to keep our metabolism up. I drink plenty of water, drink green tea, and even take protein shakes after workouts. Workouts consist of alternating days between lifting weights and doing 40 mins of cardio. The problem is that despite doing everything we've been asked to do, we only lost weight in the first month (about 15 lbs each)....now it's been a month and we haven't lost anything! I don't even feel like my clothes are getting looser....What could be happening and is there anything we should do about it? Our trainer just keeps acting like we're not trying hard enough, but I feel like we're killing ourselves trying to do everything that is asked of us, and still not seeing results. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks

You can try www.sparkpeople.com
It is a healthy way to lose weight.
You type in how much you want to lose and by when etc...and they plan out your meals so you can achieve your goal. You can also follow your own meal plan and enter what you've eaten in your daily tracker and it calculates everything. They have a calorie counter and everything. Plus they give you a fitness plan according to what type of exercising you like to do. The exercises can be done at home like dumbells, resistance bands & ball. You can also choose from walking, jogging,or a home video or even the gym. There's many different options. It's like having a private nutritionist and best of all...it is free. You also have support from the members. A real neat site. I'm quite impressed.
Check it out...You probably not going to need your personal trainer anymore...Enjoy!
God Bless!

Do you really have to lose weight? Why can't you be comfortable for who you are? If you are healthy & don't need to lose weight for medical reasons, maybe you're being too critical or idealistic? -sp? {hug} Big can be beautiful, too. Just keep working out for the sake of working your heart muscle, keep doing toning exercise because as your personal trainer would say, "a good proportion of muscle to fat is healthy," & keep eatting healthy! Good Job!!! Best Wishes! :))) {hug}
Oh, yes, muscle weighs more than fat. While you are building up that muscle, the fat hasn't all burned up yet. So, you may weigh more. Clothes may not be lose yet cuz there's the added muscle to the fat. Remember that the muscle will eventually metabolize the fat. Then you'll start losing those inches! Just don't give up! :)))!
I wish people wouldn't cut down on slim people or people who aren't because sometimes you are who you are. :)

I'm completely satisfied that you just are not purging, and I do not imply to "lecture" however you're doing a quantity for your metabolism. Your frame starts to make use of saved fats after which muscle while you do not consume for increased durations of time. When you do consume (as soon as an afternoon) that muscle is changed by means of fats. ANd your metabolism does not fave a threat to hot up, so you will not burn the meals that you just do consume. The probabilities of you wasting weight this fashion don't seem to be well. you're going to absolutely attain weight. I feel you must search support.

don't get married to the scale....you're adding muscle which weighs more than the same volume of fat, so even though the scale won't show it, you're shifting your body mass around to a more pleasing appearance.........
the progress you see might be slower now but it all adds up
you're real goal should be keeping this new lifestyle so you'll stay looking great after you both trim up.
if you let yourself get so impatient now, what are the chances you'll not backslide later?
be in it for the long haul bro!!

Well, first I would like to say that your workout routine should be fun. It really shouldn't feel like work. That's my opinion. Second, from what I understand muscle weighs more then fat. So I wouldn't give up hope.

Try changing your workout routine. Your body might be used to it and you just need to make it a little harder. Try to burn at least 3800 cals a week just by exercising. If you are watching what you eat you should be cutting out 3500 cals a week. Thats a 2 lbs weight loss a week.
