Ok, this is a translation thing. Y'all call biscuits what we call cookies. What we call biscuits are more like y'all's scones, but, there's no sugar in them. If you make them right, good homemade biscuits are like a little piece of heaven with gobs of butter on 'em. Not to mention, mighty handy for sopping up your gravy with.

Can you get Martha White self-rising flour down under? They've a recipe on the bag for biscuits. I've made them for so many years, I don't even really use a recipe.

A biscuit in this phrase means a soft bread, usually leavened by baking powder or baking soda. A "roll" would be a soft bread raised by yeast. To a Brit or Aussie, however, a "biscuit" is what an American would call a dessert or snack sweet called a "cookie".

Well biscuits is a southern thing because they were popular with lazy plantation owners prior to the American civil war. They surely are a food ladden with more than just fat but with the degenerate treatment and mentality doled out to subordinates during this seemy period in America.

Biscuits and gravy is an American thing. They're fat laden bread and they sit heavy in your stomach. They're very dry and need to be soaked in gravy or butter to go down without choking, so no wonder US bellies are expanding to record sizes.
