I had a cat that did both in the bathtub, and in the sink. My problem is that she had to share a box with my other cats, and she hated it.
Is her cat box, really really clean? If you have recently changed litter or her box is not as clean she may be looking elsewhere.
I wasn't thrilled with her doing it, but at least she chose an easily cleanable surface.
Not sure what age your kitty is, but if this is really bizarre behavior for it, a quick vet check to make sure there are no kidney troubles might be helpful.

Hahaha!! I thought my cat was the only one who does that!!For the sake of the argument we will just assume they are not smoking crack!! Allthough I do wonder!! I find my cat prefers fresh water from the sink, even though i am constantly changing her bowl water.I even found contraptions at the pet store that have electric water bowls that constantly move the water almost like a fountain. So, I know drinking from the tap is not too odd for cats. As far as the sink goes... I have a theory. I noticed that when I lived in california, during the hot summers.. she would always be laying in the bathroom sink.I think the cool ceramic helps them cool down.I just moved to ohio and am having a very cold icy winter.Once again.. I found her in the sink.I am thinking she is in the sink again because there is a heating vent near the sink and with the bathroom being a smaller room, it can possibly keep her warmer. My only other guess would be that they are waiting for someone to turn on the tap for them and with sink being kind of small and sunken it probably just makes a cool hang out for them.Anyways, I hope this helps.

Have you maybe changed brands of litter? Maybe he doesn't like it. Or you could try putting potting soil in the litter box. Cats love to dig in that. Is he allowed to go outside, or is he an indoor cat? If he's an indoor cat, the potting soil trick would be good. Is he neutered? If not, the spraying of the Christmas tree may be territorial marking. If you catch him in the act, throw a magazine at him (but don't hit him with it). That scares the heck out of cats, and they will think twice about doing that again. We had a dog who would poop in the bathtub if she really had to go and no one was home to let her out. That doesn't sound like the case with you guys, though. Just make sure the litter box is clean (get your husband to do it), and maybe try the potting soil trick. Good luck!

Hi there,
Since your cat started this behavior a few weeks ago, there could be something that triggered it. I read about a guy that is supposed to be quite a cat expert. I don't remember his web site, but his name is Jackson Galaxy. Really. I thought it was a joke, but then I googled him, and found his web site. He has a FAQ section that may be helpful.
This may sound a bit out there, but you could also try an animal communicator to try to find out what the cat has to say. I thought it was silly too, until I worked with one from Oregon that was amazing. Her first name was Heidi. You could probably find her doing a search. She is also in the book, 'The Language of Miracles' by Amelia Kinkade.
Good luck with your cat, and congrats on your baby!

Well, if it is in the bathroom, it's close to the toilet. Maybe you can get it to just move the business right over there!
Seriously, put some aluminum foil sheet in the sink. Cats hate the stuff. Give it some new fun toys and it'll be fine.

I think most cats, even though they use a cat box some or most of time, still Pee in our houses, all over. I've caught mine too, getting rid of them is out the question, my daughter Loves her cat to death.
You cat could be doing that because it senses the baby, but males tend to spray, even if neutered.

Yeah, my cat does that too. We've never been able to stop him. The only warning is the squeaky sound of his paws as he scratches ready to pee. Try leaving some water in the bottom of it, that might stop him?

Sounds like you need to kick that cat to the curb. It is becoming a health hazard. Bring him in and I can put him to sleep for you.
