Associating partners with God is the worst sin.

It's so weird that you are saying that "it's sad that one is show truth and is not followed" and such.

Truth by what standard? How do you prove that it is the truth?

If it would be truth, why do you need to indoctrinate the kids at an early age? And this goes to any religion, not only Islam.

Why not teach the kids everything, and then allow him/her to find the truth? If it's really the truth, and you did all you could to educate, the child will find his/her way to the truth.

My parents told me that they did not chose a religion for me, and when I grow up I can chose whichever I find "true" and they wouldn't think less of me. I grew up and I'm still searching....

Many (not all) religions attempt to hold their membership with strict rules that give the followers a feeling of being special. It is a little like how some people feel important because they belong to a certain country club. They dress it up with threats of eternal punishment for people outside the club, just to make sure you never think of leaving. So the great irony is: you check in, but you can never check out.

No religion likes when its members stray. The fact that this is the worst sin confirms that the main goal of religion is to spread itself. Christianity also looks down worse at "apostates" than atheists.

Because they teach and breed fear. It's permissable for a Father to kill his daughter because she leaves Islam. Fear is often used in brainwashing. Fear breeds fear which leads to blatantly following blindly because reason has left. Any religion that uses fear in such a way should be considered a cult.

It is not the worst sin.

But is not allowed, as how can one be alowed to daviate from the truth.

Unfortunately people conceive an opinion about Islam not based on research, but on the actions of a few individuals or gossip or as projected by the media.

Because it states that allah will dishonor anyone who tells the truth about certain elements of islam.
"One who exposes something from our religion is like one who intentionally kills us".
I guess their afraid somebody tell something they don't want told.
And to poki, I would say you put more importance on your FALSE prophet than you do your allah, he seems to be talked about more.

Do Not Follow Your Parents' Religion Blindly

[5:104] When they are told, "Come to what GOD has revealed, and to the messenger," they say, "What we found our parents doing is sufficient for us." What if their parents knew nothing, and were not guided?

[5:105] O you who believe, you should worry only about your own necks. If the others go astray, they cannot hurt you, as long as you are guided. To GOD is your ultimate destiny, all of you, then He will inform you of everything you had done.

No Compulsion in Religion

[2:256] There shall be no compulsion in religion: the right way is now distinct from the wrong way. Anyone who denounces the devil and believes in GOD has grasped the strongest bond; one that never breaks. GOD is Hearer, Omniscient
[2:257] GOD is Lord of those who believe; He leads them out of darkness into the light. As for those who disbelieve, their lords are their idols; they lead them out of the light into darkness - these will be the dwellers of Hell; they abide in it forever.
