I recently went to lunch with a guy I'm interested in (who also seems to be interested in me) and it was with two other friends. After the meal none of us had enough small change to tip big so I put down a dollar. Even though he hadn't ordered he insisted on tipping $5. Does that mean anything?

He said he would've put down $10 if he had the bill but "all he had was twenties". So yeah.. $10 was more than the cost of the meal. <_<

It means he wanted to show off, though since there were others around the table than just you he may have been doing it for the benefit of someone else.

May be the few minutes of lunch time he spent with your most exalted highness was so wonderful, it opened that guy's heart wide and he felt the urge to give away a good portion of his earthly possessions to whoever was accepting?

Take it in the positive sense please

It means the guy has good manners. He is helping you all out because you didn't have any small change.
