well space projects are meant for the betterment of mankind...
I think there will be profit from that as well
however, you have a point but I still think that if you don't want to starve; work your *** off!

If you divided all the money spent on the space program between all the starving people in the world, you know what? They'd still be starving. They might be less hungry for a day or two, but they'd still be starving. One of the things the space program accomplishes is providing information and data that allow people in these countries to better use their land to grow more food.
On th other hand, look at it this way - there wasn't always a space program so what would you be doing today if Henry Ford had said, "Well crap, I'd really like to see what we could do with these automobiles but there a starving people somewhere so I'd better spend the money on them." Or if Bill Gates had spent the money on starving people? Of couse, you're referring more to government types of spending. Okay, so if the government had said we don't need this new bunch if fighter jets or the aircraft carriers to launch them from. We don't need the space program. We could use all that money on starving people. In a round about sense, that money HAS gone to needy people. Do you have any idea how many people the space program employs? What happens when all those peole have to go find other jobs? People who can't make a living. They don't hire astrophysicists at WalMart. The space program is more than sending shuttles into space. It's about communications, defense, weather research and forcasting, imagery used to study things like coastline erosion, river dynamics, crop production, etc. In some cases, because of those satellites in space, we know these things years ahead of when we would otherwise. You might not believe it but even the starving people benefit from the space program.

First ask how much a factor does instability and unrest disruption not just food production, but the ability to distribute fairly this needed food. And then whether it take force in order to bring stability? and then whether U.S. dollars should participate directly with our own troops, or train and supply the locals to create their own armies? Indeed it would be easier just to send money to those countries, but would it actually make it to the people who need it or would militias steal it for their own troops?
As answered previously by someone above, that billions more is spent on the military - it's through that chain of logic that billions are being spent on military action to stabilize a region in order to prevent unrest, civil disorder, genocide, and yes starvation.
You may disagree that that is either ineffective, inefficient, or completely useless in efforts to improve human conditions - but not to say that we are simply doing nothing good with and should give it away to our neighbors. If world peace were as simple as landing on the moon - i think we would have done it by now.

That is just a fraction of the funds that are used to propel a world elite agenda, Whats more absurd to me is the constant waste of food, espeacially in the U.S., where they even have the arrogance to publicly destroy food for entertainment. Sorry to say that the truth is that the individual has to find a way to rise from there oppresion and poverty, because those that have care not really about those that have not.

Do you give money to the poor?
Do you put money in the bucket during Christmas for the Salvation Army?
When they are having a can food drive, do you donate?
Do you volunteer your time at any soup kitchen feeding the homeless?
If you do any of these things, then you might have room to ask your question. Otherwise, get off the stage.

Even befor we went to space millions of people died from starvation, money is not the problem. Countries that starve people are the problem, just search for Darfur on any search page.

I've often thought that the biggest waste of money is on the space program. When we have people hungry, homeless and starving it is asinine to send astronauts joyriding in space. THe cost of one "mission" could help so many thousands of people.

and although I agree with you in principal, the reality is that no one has invented a cure for human mischief. And we can all sit around and site all the various causes for this and that. But it always lead right back to mischief. So,to me, the exploration of space travel has highlighted the Glory and Majesty of Allah(God).

Yes very true my friend but lets not loose sleep over this fact but hope that more and more people see the reality like you do, particularly those guilty of wasteful spending even in our day to day living.
