Blair tells migrants to "conform"

"But we protect this attitude by defending it. Our tolerance is part of what makes Britain Britain. So conform to it; or don't come here. We don't want the hate-mongers, whatever their race, religion or creed," he told an audience that included academics, students and Muslim leaders.

The government has cracked down on radical Islamic preachers who it says inspire suicide bombers.

Could this focus on Islam backfire if Britain's 1.8 million Muslims feel they are under attack?

What can be done, premptively, to prevent this backfire?

AHHH! Mexicans & Muslims,Muslims & Mexicans! I feel your pain!
I believe that anytime a person immigrates to another country, then they should be prepared to honor & uphold that country's laws & customs
I am a Texan. If I moved to UK or Au.I would be obligated to honor the Queen.I would also be obligated to learn the words & customs,so I could function in society, not expect those around me to conform for my comfort!
Heck! The rest of America is like a foriegn country to me!I do alright though!

The message can not be any more clearer.
The immigrants from any part of the world, any race, any religion must have respect for the established ways of life.
It was a failure of successive governments to not see this developing.
It was assumed that these immigrants would be be all the same.
There has been no issue with the Hindus, Sikh, Buddhists or any other religious following.
The Government needs to actively and premptively watch the various Muslim organisations for allowing non-conformance.

those who live and make a living in any country must respect and defend that country regardless of their particular religious belief, anarchy is still anarchy when it comes from a countries own citizens and religious belief is no excuse for harming one`s own land, parents would not allow their children to wreck and destroy their own home that would be foolish, Muslims are not under attack in England as these radical hate preachers pretend and innocent people always tend to be the ones who get hurt by this type of insurrection, if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

Maybe nothing can stop the radical muslims, they have declared jihad. Maybe Jesus will come back soon to put an end to all this fighting. But then again it will probably get much worse, before that glorious day comes. I'm not afraid of death, because i will be with the Lord for ever.

I agree with David and Frogmamma! Why should the majority cater to those who do not want to assimilate into our culture? I can appreciate people from all backgrounds (except extremists who want to kill us or convert us to their ways). However, I don't believe we should kiss their bums. If they don't want to live in, and participate in our society, they need to go to some other land!
