i just love the macaw, recently i came across one in mumbai, but dont know how can i get one for myself.

Do you want a macaw, or just a parrot??? There are all kinds of parrots out there. But they require a lot of attention, a good diet and must be socialized well. Macaws can be loud, and have a huge beak that can break your thumb with one angry bite. There is a kind of macaw that has the fun and entertaining personality of their larger cousin, they are called Hahn's Macaws, they are small so they do not need a huge expensive cage. They only get up to like 13 inches. I love the big macaws but I have a small child and worry about painful bites and aggression. We are actually looking into getting a Hahn's macaw or the Noble Macaw, the Noble is a small macaw as well, but they are more rare so the price tage goes up. Please do a lot of research before buying a bird, they require a lot, and you cannot just feed them seed based diets, it is unhealthy and does not provide them with all the nutrients they need. They love fruits, veggies, beans, rice(cooked), noodles, lentils, nuts and lots of stuff, just nothing fatty. And the costs can really get up there if you want it to be healthy. Good luck, I am sure there has to be a breeder in India somewhere. I am not sure what the laws are on importing a bird, but I do not think it would survive such a long flight. JMO. Also the large Macaws can live like 80+ years. we have a small quaker parrot and they can live up to 30 years. They are a lifelong companion, and cannot be throw for person to person. Birds very much like to be part of the family.

Parrots (parakeet, lorikeet, macaw, cockatoo) are forest birds living in individual pairs, small groups or families. Species that live in open grassland, however, tend to aggregate in larger flocks. The majority of parrots live in the tropics and the southern hemisphere. The northerly most parrot is the Slaty-headed Parakeet (Psittacula himalayana), and the most southerly the Australian Conure (Enicognathus ferrugineus).

Hey, Macaws are sold in any of the Metro cities. Check at the pet stores. You will find one is Mumbai for sure since it's a big city.

You love to "bread parrots ?" For food ... ? That is aweful . I am going to assume you ment breed parrots , in this case , I would not reccomend it . There are many breeders out there, you may purchase a breeding pair look in your news paper

Dont yar......dont do it . They have a heart and a mind which wants to live freely. If you catch one of them you may become happy but the parrot.............will it be happy in a jail . Just imagine that you are a parrot and someone catches you and put in a small closed basket .it will be so cruel know...........not able to see your parents not able to speak , not able to play and not able to fly into the beauty of sky.......... so don't do that cruelty to that birds...

you don't want to get them from India cause they are an endangered species and only zoos or wildlife sanctuary can get them. i would advise getting one from a repetable pet shop where the bird is free of disease ,etc.

there is a pet shop in shivaji nagar, bangalore, where i've seen them sell macaws.
