I tell you the truth, this generation [a] will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.
-Matthew 24:34 (New International Version)

Footnotes: [a] Or race

It makes more sense when you read the footnote. This reminds me of the virgin birth thing which some people love to get hung up on. Some pretty smart theologians and historians believe that the word translated as "virgin" probably meant something like "young woman". It likely had nothing whatever to do with the state of Mary's hymen.

All of Matthew 24 is Jesus telling His disciples what the signs of the end of the age are. One of the things He said was, "Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name saying I am Christ, and deceive many." Look at the organized church. Everywhere there are preachers preaching in the name of Jesus agreeing that Jesus is Christ, but they are deceiving many. So many churches preach false doctrines these days that it's difficult to know what is right or wrong. We should all read the Bible for ourselves, asking for guidance from the Holy Spirit, because He is the perfect teacher. If we do that, the condradictions disappear. I used to see all sorts of contradictions in the Bible, and all sorts of condemnation against myself. Once I received Christ, the Holy Spirit opened my eyes and I stopped listening to preachers. It was only then that I was able to see the truth and know that God is real, doesn't lie, and is full of love and mercy. And in Matthew 24:34, this generation refers to the generation after Christ - all of us that have lived in the last 2000 or so years. Thanks for putting the verse up there. No matter what you believe, the Bible is very good reading. Peace.

What's with all the questions about Matt. 24 tonight? Is it the chapter of the night or something? It proves no such thing. If you read the entire chapter in context, and use some common sense, you will see the only reasonable understanding of this verse is that He is speaking of the generation that witnesses all these events happening, i.e. the final seven years.

TRUE.
Reasons are clear, these are the translations but not the ORIGINAl.

QURAN is the only WORD OF GOD in ORIGINAL/PURE FORM. Reason is clear in the verse below, that GOD promised to protect QURAN.

[15:9] Absolutely, we have revealed the reminder, and, absolutely, we will preserve it.
http://www.submission.org/q-t.html......

The Quranic challenge (since past 1400 years, present and future)

Here are the verses that mention the challenge;

Say, "If all the humans and all the jinns banded together
in order to produce a Quran like this, they could never
produce anything like it, no matter how much assistance
they lent one another." [17:88]

If you have any doubt regarding what we revealed to our
servant, then produce one sura/Chapter like these, and call upon
your own witnesses against GOD, if you are truthful.
[2:23]

This Quran could not possibly be authored by other than
GOD. It confirms all previous messages, and provides a
fully detailed scripture. It is infallible, for it comes from
the Lord of the universe. If they say, "He fabricated it,"
say, "Then produce one sura like these, and invite
whomever you wish, other than GOD, if you are truthful."
[10:37-38]

If they say, "He fabricated (the Quran)," tell them, "Then
produce ten suras like these, fabricated, and invite
whomever you can, other than GOD, if you are truthful."
[11:13]

Do they say, "He made it all up?" Instead, they are
simply disbelievers. Let them produce a Hadith like this,
if they are truthful. [52:33-34]

Quran is the Final/Last testament from the GOD.
Unlike previous book are all corrupted and are not in ORIGINAL form. Muslim have to believe in all the books of GOD in original.

sometimes there are misinterpretations... because the language you're reading your Bible in had to be interepreted. It's not the original language... So, there are sometime little things like that that don't make sense in English, but make more sense in Hebrew...
Um, also, Jesus was a man of parables, you had to read into what he was saying to really get the true meaning... Many people couldn't get it because their hearts had been made to not understand.
I think these days that there's even more people who don't understand what Jesus means, even I can't... I pray that God will make me understand, but I usually don't figure it out myself, I have to hear it from someone else who's smarter than me...

I don't know if this helps... But I tried.

That's why Christians don't have answers for Jesus son of man, son of God < many sons of God in the Bible> doesn't mean that he is his real son. cn't be human and nether a God son because God is one has no parents no family, how can he has a son now?
Total confusion.
the Christians for proving that Jesus is God have to collect verses from anywhere to prove that Jesus is God. like the example of << I am >> they go back and forth to explain what they want. why is it not easy like the Quran, God says many times, I am your lord, worship me alone with no partners.
in an other verse about a story about a lord of a land. Muslim didn't go for the word lord to prove that the lord of that land was God in the flesh. I don't understand why Christians torture themselves. and just believe in the umbelievable?

Dont forget that the Bible is a work of fiction. It is one of the many tales and legends of the Middle East. It was written over the years by many different authors. Like many tales and legends there are many different interpretaions depending on your imagination.

I believe in God & believe He can do anything.I believe this with all my heart, but alot of ppl say if you truly believe, then you would be healed. They even showed me in the bible where it says "By His stripes we are healed"
This is speaking about our souls!Jesus was beaten & hung on the cross for us to be able to go to heven without burning incence & offering slaughtered lambs & such, like in the old testament.
God has healed me from things & habits, but He does it in His time, not ours & no there is no contradictions, only wrong interpretations.
