this is the best routine and i guarentee wonderful results of clear, supple skin!:
bp and salicitic acid will definitely dry out your face. the chemicals are very harsh. the dryer your skin is, the more your oil glands will react to remoisturize your face and they will product too much oil, causing more pimples! i suggest the routine i used to treat my mild breakouts as a teenager. first wash your face with a mild soap. glycerine rinses clean and is a natural moisturizer. then take a wash cloth and run it under warm to hot water. hold the cloth over your face and the heat will open your pores, allowing them to naturally drain out impurities and clogged puss. the heat is relaxing and feels amazing! keep reheating the cloth as it cools and reapplying until your skin feels purified. now that your pores are open and drained, dry your face and apply witch hazel, which is a natural astringent and much cheaper than the chemical astringents you buy at drug stores. whipe it on with a cotton ball. this completely cleans out the pore and moisturizes your skin. follow up with a light moisturizer with sunscreen and you're good to go for the day! or put on a lighter night cream. sorry i don't know if you're male or female, so if you wear makeup, wait about 10 minutes at the least unti your pores close again to put on foundation, etc. because you don't want that getting into your open pores. for spot treatment if you already have a pimple, apply tea tree oil. it's moisturizing but it will naturally "dry out" the pimple and help it heal. if you have an unsightly blemish that you picked open, use neosporin at night to speed the healing process.

You should try a good Microderm ebrasion system. The best one I think is my Mary Kay and it is about $50 but it lasts a long time. Another thing you might want to try is the Neem face mask at Bath and Body Works ($18). Yo use it once or twice a week and it gets rid of all of the oils. The mask does burn a little when you first try it, but it does not make your skin red and it works.

There are many cheap and effective home remedies for acne. Tomato slices, turmeric, papaya juices and home made face packs will treat existing pimples and prevent further problems. More remedies at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html

The only thing that has really ever worked for my oily face is Oil of Olay soap. Nothing else has ever worked, but once I started using this, it stays clear.

Proactive works but it can be expensive. I scrub with baking soda. My skin is extremely oily. The baking soda clears my pores & leaves my skin squeaky clean. Baking soda is very very inexpensive. Use about 1 tsp. It works!!
