The Spanish,french and many European countries sailed across the world, invading and also trading with foreign countries, Look at south America it speaks Spanish,look at Canada it speak french, Britain stood and fought Germany 60 years ago or we could be typing in German now. If you go further back the danish, also Normans,Saxons of France were invading us. Should we also demand an apology from the viking nations for all the rape and pillage they committed against us a 1000 years ago. It's history, we remember and learn from it to try and make a better future for us all. Remember industry,trading,commerce whatever you want to call it, countries will defend their right to make money!

Hard to think other than Switzerland. Assume because, besides the royal family, all cabinet members during the last 300 years keep accounts in Swiss banks

Portugal are our oldest allies but "gone to war with" has a double meaning - fought against and fought on the same side as - so they don't qualify

Good question. More importantly though, why should you care if the snail eating french or the beer swilling germans like you? You brits are our 51st state and get to bask in the enmity of the rest of the unwashed/religious zealots around the globe. I say we get together and start up some old fashioned empire building!

We freed Spain and Portugal from the French, and they still remember that. We haven't invaded or gone to war with Switzerland. The French don't like us as we have fought with them for years and years.
