When I was 10 years old, I would get this thing that when I went to leep, a buzzing noise would come over me, paralyze me, if I tried to scream nothing would come out (no sound) and I COULDNT MOVE AT ALL and it felt like my breath was being taken away...to get out of it, I would concentrate and tell the demon (I think) to leave, **** off (yes I swore) or say jehovah in my head over and over agin until I broke free.
Then I would go sleep in the livng room.
It would always happen when my bed was in a corner or no one was home (when I was older)...im 25 now, and I still sense it from time to time when I am alone or its between the hours 12 am and 3 am, its like the feeling you are not alone, I am not a JW anymore but I still get these. Can anyone relate???

It is not a sleeping disorder...this thing would hide things on me, like my barbie clothes, or anything small.
I seen it too, it was a blob of blacknes on my walls.
I was fully awake when these things happened,

Panic attack, built up anxiety, perhaps?

I'VE EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME THING! What you describe is commonly known as sleep paralysis. It is also referred to as "the witch riding your back" or "the devil sitting on you." I was particularly interested that you also hear a buzzing noise. I hear that also and my sister has experienced this. There is always a sense that there is an evil presence in the room, right? As far as the paralysis goes, I believe that comes from your body shutting down to enter a sleep state, but then you wake up mentally before your body does. This creates an extremely helpless sensation because you can't get your body to respond. Even screaming doesn't produce a sound. My wife has broken me out of this state several times. But she never experiences this herself. I am not a Jehovah's Witness, but I do have strong religious convictions. The only remedy I can offer you is whenever this happens, you take control by commanding it to leave (I often command this "in the name of Jesus Christ.") That seems to keep me calm until the episode passes. You can Google search "sleep paralysis" and find lots of information on it and you will discover you are not alone in this experience. However, other than myself and my sister, you are the only one I've heard mention the buzzing sound. I've often described that sound as what it must sound like to a frog trapped under a running lawn mower. Just horrific and loud making you afraid to move. Anyway, you're not alone. I hope this helps. Good luck!

If you really were a Witness, in meaning, not just in title then you know that because you ere affiliated with us doesn't mean, as some here implied, you were involved with evil. I personally am schizophrenic. I have also had experiences with problems with demons. When I had problems with the Demons it was not because I was to firm in my faith it was due to being involved with someone involved in the occult. I hope you can find something to stop this. I offer two suggestions. Seek Jehovah. There was a wonderful Awake? article several years ago in a September that dealt with how to keep Satanic influence out of your life. I remember as it came out during my problems with the demons. It was extremely comforting. The other offer I give is seeking psychiatric help. I know it can feel insulting to be told this but you need to consider mental illness. I hope you can get the help you need.

Yes, I had very similiar experiences when I was a child. At that time in my life , I didn't know what a JW was . From about 6th grade on, my mother had gotten into occult, and that is about the time it began. at about 10th grade someone would rebuke the devil to help me and told me to say Jesus over and over to break free. I couldn't so I would think it and then eventually, I would be able to speak it. After a while of doing this it finally went away. Also, I quit doing occult practices. Also, People prayed for the devil to be rebuked.
Serving Jehovah would not cause this. There must have been something else your not thinking about in your life that would have opened the door to this.

There are other people who have a similar thing. Some call it sleep paralysis. Some say it's an old hag, this is the wives tale part, which is on the chest and sucking out he breath. There are other similar types of things like this.
The loud humming too, is said to be what happens before you have an out of body experience.

This questioner should consider seeking medical and/or psychiatric assistance for her condition. While it is true that the demons can and do harass humans at times, these other causes should be examined professionally.

It cannot hurt, and it may well help, to pray aloud to Jehovah using the divine personal name. A relationship with Almighty God can protect an individual in so many ways.

A similar thing happened to me a couple of times..... I think it has to do with the position of your bed and if there is a light on... the angle where the light is coming from. Stay away from walls and corner and put your bed in the middle of the room... Play some hymns when you go to sleep, put a Bible by your side. It will help. I am sure.

I'm a JW. "IF" it was/is a demon, being a JW or not will not make a difference on it being there or attacking you. You should know what causes those things.

It also sounds like might not be anything but panic attacks / fear attack. Unless there is more info, usually if it was a demon would be a bit more obvious not just being froze still.

I have a cousin who had something similar. She would have a crushing feeling in her chest while she slept and would need to get up and do something until the feeling went away.
After over 40 years of this, her mother died of a nerve-degenerating disease where the muscles of her lungs eventually stopped working and she died from the chest-crushing feeling of the inability to breathe.
After her mother's death, my cousin never had the crushing sensation again.
I am wondering if you are sensitive in that nature as well towards someone in your life. I could be wrong but your question reminded me of my cousin.

Yes Lisa I can. My husband was raised JW as well and oddly has had the very same experience. Now he is free from that...religion and it doesn't happen to him any more. I think that the experience came from a paralyzing fear of doing wrong in God's eyes, I thought his experience was unique but now that I hear you say it I will do further research.

He said that closet doors would move and the blankets would come up and try to cover his face.
