Yes there is plenty of evidence confirming the bible to be the Word of God, the fulfillment of prophecies for example, about 300+ actually. Archeological research has confirmed much of the Bible as well. It is quite obvious that the Bible is the way the truth and the life, but many people have not done their research.

For one thing, the "evidence" used by Christians to support the existence of a god is in the Bible, a book that not all people believe is the word of God. Plus, the Bible contradicts itself in many ways in terms of the true historical record and issues of morality. For example: If God thinks of human beings as his children, why does he want us to believe he is real or else we will go to Hell? These types of stories make God seem like a selfish, petty, spoiled child instead of a deity.
I also want to add that the Bible is not a universally accepted truth, and there are many other books read and accepted as the truth, even supporting the same god. How can the Bible be the sole source of argument, and not the Qoran, for example. What about the people who were around before Jesus? They couldn't have been Christians. They are going to Hell? Babies who die within hours of being born and could never be baptized? They are going to Hell? People who can't speak and therefore can't pray? It's a cruel reality that you want to believe in.
Opening my mind is not a choice for me, since I used to be a Christian and am now an atheist. I'm college educated, hold a bachelor's degree, continue my education in as many ways as I can, and I don't believe that a person with a rational mind can believe that there is a god. I think people believe in god because they want to, or because it is a reassuring concept for them, but the idea of deities, IMHO is akin to mythology.
I'm probably not explaining this as well as I would like, and I don't want to offend anyone, but try to explain how I feel. I assume this is why the question was asked, and I am only trying to inform, not insult. I hope my answer can be taken in the spirit with which it was intended.
Thank you.

I have loads of belief in the existence of a supernatural Intelligence. I have no belief whatsoever for the Bible. The process of natural selection, whereby survival of a species is based upon successful reproduction, is entirely amoral and has seen far too many species go extinct to even remotely reflect the guiding hand of the all-powerful, all-loving, personal deity postulated by the Bible. The sheer emptiness and vastness of uninhabited and uninhabitable space also seems purposeless if the point of existence is coming to know Jesus Christ. I mean, shouldn't Creation simply be limited to the world if the point of Creation was the incarnation of the God-man? What purpose does all of that space serve? Seems hardly coherent from the Biblical perspective.
I believe in a god who challenges life by putting it in difficult situations, throwing down the gauntlet and daring us to grow. But I see no reason to believe in old, withering Jehovah.

'Overwhelming evidence'? What? Where? You are trying to apply scientific and empirical reasoning to a book of parables and mythology. What you fail to mention is that there is almost nothing noted in the bible that has been or ever will be proved with any kind of evidence. I think if the christians are looking for a poster boy for blind faith you could be it.

First of all there is no scientific evidence of God, that's where faith comes in, there is some evidence to prove that some biblical writings did occur. This is by no means evidence of God, second of all why care whether atheists believe or not, it's up to them, no one can force another to believe. If you happen to believe, good for you I'm sure it will improve your life to some extent. As for those that don't, leave them be, by your belief system they will go to hell and you won't have to worry about it anymore. I'm sure you and they will be happier this way.

I've never seen any scientific or forensic evidence for a god, andI don't find scripture to be compelling evidence.

>>(P.S. the historic consensus on Jesus has not something to do with non secular bias. Jewish scholars (Geza Vermes, Paula Fredriksen) and agnostic scholars (Maurice Casey, Bart Ehrman) concur that Jesus existed)<< So??? None of them became into alive while Jesus became into putatively alive. There are no greater suitable-Biblical references to Jesus an any of the writings of the historians who have been writing at that element (Josephus is obviously a forgery).

Cite your evidence. There is no mechanism ever described to show that evolution is limited to "micro-evolution". "Macro-evolution" was a concept invented when the evolutionary mechanism was demonstrated. By the way, evolution is accepted by the majority of scientists who are religious.

You mean like the race of giants mentioned in Genesis? You mean like the fossil records of those giants that weren't found?
