The best thing is to teach kids in school the constitution and the bill of rights (U.S.A.), and why they should be thankful for them and why they should try to protect those rights.
Then when the kids grow up, they will change our government into what it should be (Libertarian). That will give the people back their liberty, and most of their tax dollars. Then , when the government is no longer paying the way for those individuals who keep having tons of babies out of wedlock and aren't interested in getting jobs or an education, they will be forced to get off their cans and make their own livings. Jobs, self sufficiency will give them self esteem, and make them much better people.
So, yes, we can do more.

I suppose everyone *can* give more to society. I don't believe in giving to the point that the giver gets in trouble, however. I think it's very important to maintain a balance between giving and taking care of oneself; if a giver "bleeds" him/herself dry (literally, or in terms of money, effort, mental health, or any other aspect), the giver becomes unhealthy, and can no longer make a contribution. Givers have the right to be healthy in all respects, and to enjoy self-respect and their lives just as much as those to whom they're giving.
As you might have guessed by now, I went through a period of time where I felt that my only use was helping others. I found out, after a few years, that I had exhausted myself, and became ill both physically and emotionally. I learned the hard way that there must be a balance.
One of the things that helps me to balance obligations to others with my own needs is a saying by an ancient Rabbi named Hillel. He said, "If I am not for myself, then who will be for me? And if I am only for myself, then what am I? And if not now, when?" I think that speaks to a good balance in a life that helps others and also keeps the one doing the helping healthy.

Of course we can.
You can do this by your money, spending some time with poor, sick or orphan children, even helping and visiting your own parents is considered helping the society, imagine that every one takes care of their parents, there wouldn't be any deserted old men and women.
These are only examples of giving to society, if you consider it for a while, you'll find many other ways, I'm sure.

I have a question for you.
Can we take less from society?
Therefore leaving more for future generations and less fortunate...think about it. Why give more when we can take less.

I beleive we already give more than is needed. But then it is wasted on
mismanagement. If not outright stolen.
We may have to take a stand and lose lives fighting criminal organizations
that pose as revolutionaries in some countries, but are nothing but
gangsters. And recognize, and fight white collar criminals who embezzle.
Whether they are politicians, or secretaries.
