I have to agree with the others on here. Some kids just don't like taking baths or showers. God only knows why, and I can't explain it, but I used to have to sit with my daughter when she was little while she took a bath. I did a lot sewing while I sat with her too. lol
But don't think the little guy is lying to you just because he's little.
Before you try the priest idea, try getting a recording device, even a little boom box that records will work, slide in a tape before you go to bed, set to record and let it run. Get one of the longer playing tapes. In the morning listen to it and see if you hear anything on it. Some times you can pick up EVPs if there's something going on. You may have to try it for several nights at different times to catch anything.
If you hear anything, I'd try the priest/pastor idea as this could be a sign of a haunting.
In the mean time, sit in the room with him while he showers or takes a bath. It'll help calm his nerves and he shouldn't be afraid.

Is it only with a shower or is he afraid of the bathroom in general?
If it's just the shower let him take a bath. My son is 7 and is still afraid of the shower.
It is also possible that something has happened to him and made him afraid. Many children will make up an excuse when they are afraid. If he has had any trauma involving water or rain, something that would remind him of the shower.
As well it is possible that he did see something at some point in time that has frightened him.
Try putting salt around the bathtub and telling him that that will keep ghosts away. This worked for my kids when they were afraid that there were monsters under the bed. Good luck.

He might be seeing something. Or else he has a serious issue with being afraid of the bathtub, for another reason.

I know everybody thinks it's ridiculous, but I DID see a ghost when I was 7. I woke up late at night and was walking to my parents' bedroom because I didn't feel well. I turned the corner into the kitchen and BAM, a shadow was standing there opening and closing cabinets. It looked right at me and then faded away. Of course I was hysterical and my parents thought I had dreamed it. But I refused to go in the kitchen at night for a LONG time afterward.

Maybe your son saw something, or maybe he's hearing noises through the walls and not knowing what they are ... there are a lot of possibilities. If he can't describe it in more detail, maybe you should find another shower for him to use or if he's young enough, sit in there with him while he bathes.

How old is he? Perhaps it would help if you brought a book and sat on the toilet lid while he showered so he wouldn't be alone.
Whether he saw a ghost or not, something happened to worry him about being in that room. Assure him that you're there and would let nothing happen to him.
Perhaps after a couple of showers with your presence, you can start standing right outside the room, and wean him away from needing your constant presence to bathe without fear of ghosts or whatevers coming in the bathroom to get him.

Sounds like your son is young and is afraid to be closed up in the shower alone. He may have seen something on TV that scared him and he thinks there are ghosts in there, air movement, plumbing noise or whatever. Don't force the shower thing but give him a bath instead. You or his dad may have to give him his bath, but make sure that he knows there are only two options bath or shower. Not taking one is not an option.

Go to the store and buy some ghost spray... its pretty cheap and usually effective (also known as any kind of air freshner) Dress up the can and show him how the ghost spray works.

If this doesn't work then try a bath instead of a shower.

Next ... understand that he doesn't like it and accept it and teach him how to wash up without a bath or shower so he doesn't smell. Some children just dont like getting wet period.

Hi Snowfourg !!!
How old is your son??? What type of movies he is exposed to?
Are there grown-up conversations about this around him? What type of magazines or literature he is exposed to?

After you clear all of this questions, do not ask him directly, if he has seen or heard anything. What I mean with this is that no one should be suggesting this to him.

Watch him closely for few days. And avoid forcing him to go or be alone in the areas, where he is uncomfortable.

As a good start for research purposes you would like to visit his doctor, or if you prefer, talk to a priest or reverend at a recognized church.

DO NOT ignore his comments, and you should acknowledge him
and everything he says. I'm so curious to know how old is your son. And also if there is a relationship or family problems in your household at this time, or for how long???
That could give a lot of insight in to this issue.
Give him a lot of love, And Pray, Pray, and keep PRAYING.
You need the prayers anyway ghost or not!!!!

GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR SON

My kids went through something similar when they were little. They weren't storytellers so I bought a cross, took a small empty container, went to our priest asked him to bless the cross and filled the container up with holy water. After I got home, I hung the cross up in the room the kids had the problem in, made the sign of the cross on all four cornors of the wall with the holy water and never heard them say another word about a ghost again.
Even if your not a regular in a church you could just call one and asked the pastor or priest to do the same for you.

Do you think he sees them.? You never know he might or it may be the 'boogie man' . Ask him why he is afraid of them.?

Try going into the bathroom with him and talking out loud to howm ever might be in there and ask them to leave while he takes a shower. Tell them they can come back when he is done. Have him say it to if he can. It might give him power over his fear.

If its the 'boogie man' you could him the boogie man go away spray that my sister gave her son to get rid of the boogie man that was under his bed. It has the name lysol on the can, that is trick name so the boogie man do not know what kind of spray it really is.

Good luck.

my daughter trys all sorts to get out of having a shower, she even tells me there is a monster that lives in the drain. the simple fact is, she doesn't like getting water and shampoo in her eyes. buy you son a shower hat with the peak on it. like a baseball cap with a hole in the top. it worked for me.

but then again he could really be seeing a ghost. just go in there with your son and ask the ghost to give him a little privacy and hes quite welcome to come back in the bathroom when hes finished.
