a lot of people connect that symbol with devil worship. but that's only what people connect it with. it could mean anything outside the norm, hence, heavy metal rock-n-roller, anti-government guy, etc, etc, blah, blah ,blah. it basically used by people in the norm, trying to say that are not in the norm, but if that were true they would not be wearing a symbol known by the norm. hence poser. that's what it means, the world is to hard for me to live up to, i have to take a short cut.

A pentagram is a five pointed star that represents the four elements (earth, air, fire, and water) and spirit. A pentacle is pentagram with a circle around it. It is a holy symbol used/worn by Wiccans, usually. That doesn't necessisarily mean he's a Wiccan though as many people will use/wear things they don't understand.

As far as it being Satanic......it's not. The majority of Wiccans in the US wear it with one point up and two points down. Many in Europe wear it with two points up and one point down. The main reason why Wiccans in the US don't wear it the same way is because of the false stereotype given to it, i.e., that it's Satanic. You might want to do some research on Wicca, Paganism, Satanism and Luciferianism to find out what the real deal is for yourself. But, I can tell you that as far as Wiccans/Witches are concerned it's holy and has nothing to do with any devil/satan or anything evil.

The pentaCLE as it is used today is a pagan symbol of the four elements plus the element of spirit, or a man with outstretched arms and legs within the circle of the universe, however the individual practitioner interprets it. A pentaGRAM is a five-pointed star that has no circle around it. An inverted pentagram, or an inverted pentacle are often used by LaVeyan Satanists to denote the figure of a goat's head, an animal classically associated with satan for its reproductive habits.

Usually it's worn by pagans or practitioners of Wicca. It's not in and of itself a Satanic symbol; the inverted pentagram is occasionally used as a Satanic symbol, or combined with a goat's head (the Sigil of Baphomet). For the most part, though, pretty benign; the four lower points correspond to the four elements with the top point signifying the spirit.

The real story.
The pentagram with its angle of 72 degrees represents life. It is the divine ratio or golden mean draw on a circle.
The lines when drawn into it to make the pentagon star cross in this ratio. The Ratio (phi) is also in the Fibonacci sequence, which is the natural rate of population growth over time.

it's usually used to banish evil--that's why it's been linked to demonology because they use it to protect themselves from the demons they're playing with
