I love Kent Hovind, and as far as Ted Haggard goes, I haven't given up on this Christian yet. Probably never will. These guys are just people like you and me.

And you have to wonder if Ted's wife was looking the other way just to keep the family intact and the church in total ignorance. Ted Haggard has no self respect and he is a mega hypocrite. These situations pop up all of the time. Remember Jimmy Swaggert and the Bakers?

Well, Haggard is a clear example of hypocrisy, because his actions were exactly against what he was preaching. Hovind has lots of anti-social behavior, legal problems, and habitual lying, but I don't know if he preaches against those things. I just know that he is a creationist.

There is certainly an element of hypocrisy in the christian right, but for the most-part, I think they are genuinely confused... most of them truly believe in the stupid things that they are advocating.

I'm not familiar with Ted Haggard, but I think Jerry Falwell is a far better representation of the hypocrisy.

Hypocrisy is not the exclusive domain of any group, faith or otherwise.
The Christian "right" is defined by common viewpoints, not by fallible humans.
Fallible humans can do great damage to the people/viewpoints they represent as figureheads. They do even greater damage to their own lives.
Since we are all hypocrites in one area or other of our life, I think we would be well off to share compassion with those who are destroyed in the hypocrisy.

Not at all. They are two men who sinned or violated the law, and they will pay their just due. Their are thousands upon thousands of pastors, ministers, missionaries, and other saints who serve God faithfully everyday, often in hostile environments, yet don't get the headlines. They are the true face of Christianity in this world

I think they are human beings who make mistakes just like the rest of man kind the book of Matthew says the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Christians proclaim to be followers of Christ not perfect. Far be it from me to judge them God will deal with them in the day of judgment as will he deal with us all...

Just the tip of the iceberg. I find it scary that they have 10% of the population thinking that men like them should be dictating the laws of the country!
