Christians, why is it that if something good happens to you, that God must have done it? And, if something bad happens, it must have been the devil? Can't something good or bad, just happen? Does it always have to be one or the other? Also, and this is going to sound rude, but it's the only way I know to ask, so forgive, please? Is it possible that Satan could just be a scapegoat? A way for God not to have to be the one who causes pain, or allows bad things to happen to you? And, if this is untrue, why would God allow the devil to cause you pain, if you are his child? I would never take a backseat and let someone harm my child. Do you not feel the same way?

Let me explain that I am NOT generalizing, I am asking if this is how you view the things that happen to you, and if so, why. I am not insulting or stereotyping, I am just curious.

I am NOT saying that no harm will ever come to my child, and yes, I have raised teenagers (I know that I am only 23, but my brother and sister have been like my own children, they moved in with me after I got married). I just think that if you can stop physical harm from coming to your children, that you should, if not, maybe you shouldn't be a parent. I was NOT insulting you, please be polite, and offer me the same respect.

By asking questions like this, we learn and grow!
Does not good and bad happen to every one of us? Whether one believes in God or not? It is human life! Okay, not just human, but for everything on this planet!
IMHO - We all answer to Him who is The Creator!
Each of us has Free Will - We choose our own paths in life - Nothing is Pre-Destined. Make a wrong choice - we pay! Make the correct choice - we gain!
Simple!
Speak with one who knows the correct answers and grow! Asking here is not your best choice - IMHO!
Hope this helps -

As a Christian, i don't believe that when something good happens God "does" it. He did do it, but that's called blessing us. When something bad happens, it IS the devil, and God allowed it because He wants us to become stronger by going through hardships and trials. during this time, this is when He sees if we really are faithful and trusting in Him and if we can rely on Him and put our faith in Him in this hard time. So that's why God would allow the devil to cause us pain. there's always going to be pain in this world, and that's why God is there for us.
my mom lost her dad when she was only 9, and now she's stronger than ever. satan is not a scapegoat. he is going to lose this battle, and he's just trying to do as much damage as he can before he goes down and bringing as many people down with him as possible.
for me, I'm only 15, but i understand the basic concepts and beliefs of Christianity and view it as a relationship rather than a religion, but i definitely wouldn't let my child go through harm, but only maybe if it makes them stronger. Why did God send Jesus down to earth only to be crucified and tortured? WHY? because God loves us THAT MUCH to care about us. John 3:16-"For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." All other religions the people are trying to reach the gods, but Christianity is the only religion that has a God trying to reach the people. can you believe that? how different is that?
God would allow satan to cause us pain because of this: 1 Corinthians 10:13--"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it."
i come from a hard background and am still dealing with the problem, but i'm thankful that im at least alive and well despite the family problems i have. hope this helps, and if you have any more questions you can email me fedora.wu@efchh.org

It is not the case that Christians think that if something good happens God has done it, but if something bad happens the Devil has done it. Just like other people we accept that things both good and bad are a normal part of life. The difference is that we can thank God when good things happen, and know he is there with us when bad things happen. He is a friend that will never leave us or let us down.

Your ideas of Christianity are very strange and simplistic, and completely out of step with True Christian Doctrine. Have you REALLY READ the Bible from COVER TO COVER? I think not, obviously from the erroneous concepts that you have just cited.
If you had really read the Holy Scriptures then you would know that Satan must go to the Heavenly Throne Room and ask permission from God FIRST before inflicting any pain on anyone; and you would know that God may or may not allow it based on the "obedience" of the individual being targeted. If God allows it for one of His Children in Christ, it is because they had committed a sin that brought the "Satanic Petition" against them and thus the inflicted pain is a Divine Chastisement, serving the purpose of correction and to ultimately bring the Child in Christ back to a state of obedience, a state reconciled back to the Father. God does not hide behind Satan as a "scapegoat". God takes full Authority for His actions. All that He allows and does has a profound purpose that your little temporal, carnal and mortal mind is entirely incapable of seeing or detecting in the full panoramic "Big Picture". When God allows the Demonic Nature to mobilize a mass genocide slaughter against a whole nation, this serves as a "judgment" for "National Sin", just as the U.S., ultimately, shall not be spared of the same fate as Sodom and Gomorrah due to its national sins, including the murder of 35 million aborted humans, for God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, and the Trans-Universal Existential Laws are cast in stone and do not change, not even for Modernity.
Additionally, Satan is a mere "Prince", a lowly position, while Christ Jesus is "King of Kings and Lord of Lords". The last time I checked a King or Lord is much higher than a mere Prince. And WHO are the "Kings" and "Lords" that Christ is King and Lord over? These would be those in Christ, the Christians. It is not in reference to earthly kings and lords, but a "Heavenly Kingdom", for Christ said, "My Kingdom is NOT of this world." So what does all this mean? It means that the "Royalty" are the Christians, that the Children in Christ have total Authority OVER the Prince, Satan. And Satan by his OWN power and authority ALONE cannot comes against and inflict pain upon the Christians, but rather he must obey there commands... "Get behind me, Satan!"

When something good happens to me, God did it, and when something bad happens the the devil did it.
Everything has a cause. You are not rude. Satan is going to be the scapegoat on day, and I thank God for that. My sins will be placed upon the account in the books a heaven next the the name of satan, and he will burn for them. Why does God allow pain and bad things to happen in our lives? He wants us to grow spiritually, to call on Him and to trust Him, this is the only way we will get stronger, by exercising our faith while under stress. Just as a weight lifter must practice with weight, so the Christian must practice faith under weight. Without this training we can never be prepared for heaven.

Because there is no personal responsibility in Christianity. Bad things are always someone/something else's fault. That and the whole attitude of, "I can do and say whatever I want because God will forgive me for it when I ask him to on Sunday". It's just an excuse to get away with everything and to seperate the blame from them so they don't have to feel guilty for the things they do. Granted, not all of Christians are like this. It's just the ones that are, are the ones that need to re-evalute their spiritual lives.

You say you would not let someone harm your child. I do not doubt this, but would you let someone...hurt your child?
If you say no, then you would not allow your child be be given a shot to protect him/her from a deadly disease, nor would you allow a doctor to do many of the needed treatments or a dentist to fill a tooth because those things will hurt.. You would also have protected your child from any and every germ so that they would not get sick. In doing all of this, someday, if your child were to catch the common cold, it could literally kill them.
More to the point, for anyone to say that God does not allow suffering in HIS kids shows they do not know the Word of GOD. The story of JOB shows that GOD does allow it. Jesus even told us that if we believed in HIM, we would suffer for His name's sake. (We can see that right here in Yahoo Answers)
1 Peter 4:12,13: "Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing; so that also at the revelation of His glory, you may rejoice with exultation."
The Bible does tell us that it rains on the just as it does on the unjust so yes, God does say that some things do just happen because we are here, not that satan caused it. Actually, to give satan credit for something he did not do is an act of worship which I will not do..but this one thing I do know..that regardless of what happens to me....it did not catch God by surprise. He is still in control and nothing can happen to be that HE has not allowed for some greater purpose in my life.
Note to Wheel....you said "If he's so great the same as Christ, then why all this hate towards non believers?" Actually there are many who call themselves a Christian that do not know what being one is all about. Being a Christian is not one that simply believes Christ existed, it means following HIM and doing the things that please HIM by having a relationship with Him. If we did this, we would also follow HIS command to LOVE our enemy and to do good to those who abuse us.

This is really a lot and really in-depth. I think you should call a church and talk to the Rabi, Pastor, or Priest. I don't fully understand what you are asking. All good things come from God because only God is pure, how can good things come from an impure being aka Satan? Why would Satan want to bless us? Why would God want to hurt us? God is pure and all good things come form Him. God allows pain so we will grow closer to Him and help others in the process.

I can constantly tell my one year old not to touch the stove it is hot, however eventually when she thinks I am not watching she will touch it.... she will get burned, now did I allow her to touch it?
Secondly yes the bible says God is good and everything of him is good.
Third I do not blame everything bad on the devil, somethings you have to take responsibility for, the enemy has no power unless you give it to him.
How can the enemy cause us pain? Is our faith in God or Satan? God does not allow Satan to cause me pain he has left me the Holy Spirit to protect me and guide me it's up to me to do God's will I only fall off and cause myself pain when I attempt to do things my way. It was my way to have sex before marriage so therefore I got pregnant at 15 and lost my ovary and fallopian tube, had I followed the word of God I would not have been in that situation to begin with.
And even after being disobedient much like a parent with unconditional love God still gave me healing in my body when doctors told me that because of that lost I would never conceive God showed me favor, and mercy I prayed and according to my faith I received and I now have two babies, that man said were not possible. But That's the kind of God I serve he takes the impossible and makes it possible!

Well you are not a Mother of a teen are you?
First you have a child,a brat, wild, crazy, will not listen brat. You have done everything for this child. The child talks back, spits in your face.
You are just going to sit there and take it?I think not.
So your child runs away from home. You seek for that child, but the child wants no part of you.
So here come another who harms your child, you have warned your child but that child will not hear you.
Finally that wicked child comes home and ask for your help. Then that child shows you love and praise.
If you need more help with this ,ask a mother or father of a teen.Or a drug addict.
