Yes. Many times. There was a young couple begging for money on the street so that they could buy dinner. I gave them the last $20 I had on me. What the heck? I'd already had dinner and I have a good job, so it really wasn't like a huge sacrifice. It was just pocket money for me. Not that I'm rich, but $20 is really no big deal in the grand scheme of things. But for them, that night, it was. Not that I want praise, it was just the right thing to do at the time.

Yes, it's a rewarding feeling to help out others. I have volunteered at nursing homes, baked resident's cookies and made each one Christmas cards, because often they are forgotten. I have done other various projects throughout the year, and even though I don't live in that town anymore....I know the traditions my group and I started still carry on...it's a nice feeling.

I do this every chance I get. I have given rides as far out of my way as 2 hours drive, given countless dollars, tons of food, shelter, stood up for strangers, and even simply put money in parking meters about to expire.
Jesus said "as you do to the least of these you have done so also to me.

Every year for the last 8 years my family has sponsered a Christian family who does not have enough money for Christmas. This year our family consists of two teenage parents and two very young children. We buy them presents, food, and a tree. It is done through an interfaith organization that keeps the identities secret for privacy.
BTW - we are Jewish.
